For the first time since 2014, a British Prime Minister has accepted that a referendum should take place when there is majority support for independence, as is the case in Northern Ireland. I have written to him to discuss how we turn that principle into a legal mechanism.

To go from “off limits” to this is an acceptance of the reality that the people of Scotland will decide their own future - not the UK Government. For the first time since 2014, a British Prime Minister accepts that majority support for a referendum should mean one takes place.

What is the charge? Having a lunch? A succulent oyster champagne lunch?
Robert Jenrick says Nigel Farage’s “sole involvement” in the donation investigation was to “have lunch.” “You can't criticise a leader for saying thank you over lunch to someone … being polite is not a crime these days.” @rosiewright99

For anyone who is trying to play down the SNP’s big election win: 🟡 SNP constituency vote share, 2026: 38.2% 🔴 Labour constituency vote share, 2024: 33.7% If the 2024 general election was a Labour landslide, @JohnSwinney’s SNP win was more of a landslide.
