So true!!
My entire life changed when I realized that the people I admired were just the ones who had the courage to start. The ones who didn't overthink it. Who put their ego aside. Who walked toward uncertainty. Who kept showing up. The answer is found in the action.

For context - electricity and railroads were once a theme. Thematic ETF flows topped $50B through August, nearly 2x 2021. But leadership of the flows of the top themes change meaningfully over time. 2021 had more disparate themes - 2026 is dominated by AI, alongside infrastructure, defense, nuclear and to a lesser degree space. Infrastructure and Defense have endured and thrived since my Global X days. At this point can AI even be considered a theme?

Agree mostly. Memory has a few companies rolled into not very diversified ETFs. The entire point of an ETF should be diversification. And Photonics?#?!&

The older I get, the more I realize that anxiety comes from trying to live in two places at once. Replaying yesterday. Rehearsing tomorrow. All while trying to live right now. It's exhausting. Come back to the present. Handle the two feet right in front of you. You don't need to fix your whole life today. You need to take the next right step. Then another. That's the recipe.

This chart highlights one of the most mind-boggling stats, which is that 99.8% of index fund assets came into the funds after Bogle stepped down as Vanguard CEO in 1996. He was only there for 0.2% of it, altho deserves lion's share of credit.
Eric Balchunas marks the 50th anniversary of the first index fund, the Vanguard 500 Index Fund. It launched on August 31st, 1976 and eventually led the way for passive investing bloom.bg/4t2duMm

54 years of memories and counting in this one special spot our Dad bought. Nothing like LBI and family.

I asked ChatGPT how the market would react to today’s CPI number. While the database only goes back to 2021, its generic response was questionable!! Humans are still needed- for now.

Three and a half years later, the responses have improved significantly, approaching human-like quality, and the data is up-to-date. Nevertheless, I still believe that humans are relevant; we simply adapt as we have always done and will continue to do.

Everyone wants to talk about the #ETF asset number. Fine, it’s roughly $16 Tn. I care less about the number and more about why it keeps climbing. And it will. New highs keep happening. The structure works: more tax efficient, more transparent, more flexible. Investors figured that out a while ago. Mutual fund money will be landing in ETF land for years to come because people eventually stop paying for something worse when something better exists. And cheaper. The industry news keeps chasing the shiny stuff, I am not immune to it. It is fun hearing about leveraged ETFs, ETFs that attract $25 bn in 8 weeks, crypto and more. Great for clicks. Not where the big ETF money lives. The real story is large cap growth, value, sectors, core fixed income etc. Passive built the foundation. Active is adding to that base. Singles and doubles typically wins the game and the game is long!!

Does anyone feel like the renaming of the iconic HBO brand to MAX was a branding blunder? Every time I see an email from Max, I think it's about my dog Max, not a streaming service named Max! 🐶📺 #HBO #MaxConfusion #Max #Really

I am vindicated. HBO is back. Sadly the Ellisons will own it soon. Shameful.
