I'd prefer to see ML being used more in the context of solving software/platform engineering problems, as opposed to being offered directly as a first-class product (or implicitly as the central value prop) to end-users.
The latter has been much too fraught with issues of bias.
Who decided that it would be a good idea to reverse the meaning of two vs three dot commit range syntax between git log and git diff ?
Tried adding some turmeric to coffee. Generally avoid various additives, but this wasn't so bad at all.
Emacs is good for 2 cases:
—Niche PLs tend to have invested resources into an Emacs mode, and tend to be maintained by core lang contributors. In contrast, other editor modes tend to be community contributions which are abandoned over a period of months/years
—Markdown

'As SARS-CoV-2 has a novel receptor binding interface (compared to SARS) & circles the globe, opportunities for *new* animal reservoirs become available.
We could suddenly see some common animal in the US being a reservoir for this virus for the future'

I feel like "technical debt" is the wrong metaphor, because with debt you can control the payment schedule. "Technical land mines" would be more accurate, because the poor technical choices blow up in your face with little advance warning
Dealing with code mudballs for years one of the reasons I've gravitated towards pure FP langs. It doesn't solve everything, but the added guarantees shift the cognitive burden away from digging into every method to see what's going on—I can spend that mental budget elsewhere.
Whenever I come across the notion of "time travel" to describe code that is simply parameterized, it's always a bit embarrassing.
Systems thinking is better used as an oblique strategy to drive inspiration than as a formal discipline. Often the conclusions rest on assumptions & axioms that even practicing statisticians would feel queasy about.
I dislike games that use a lot of high-res art assets and smooth textures.
They reduce the tactile feel, depth perception, and ability to judge scale.
Low-poly, flat aesthetics are more interesting to play.

These types must be secluded from temporal concerns and promise to abide by proper institutional laws.
"In the Reagan years National Security Adviser John Poindexter spread false stories about Libyan terrorist plots to The Wall Street Journal and other papers. "
So, is this what precipitated that Back to the Future scene?
"There's a lot of confusion. If space stretches, doesn't that stretch the light being measured?
...we don't know how exactly space and time are mixed up"

A service which compares package indexes across different langs, and shows the biggest relative disparities in missing packages would be great, but I'm not sure there is a reliable way to correlate packages cross-language.
I think I learned the gpg cli last night, playing with git signatures.
One minor nit: since the short keyid and long keyid are both used, you need to recognize both including your subkeys.
This is surprisingly addictive, for a game that was only made in 7 days jtolmar.itch.io/pinball-dung…
In contrast to the forcing function of designing for mobile, the additional UX freedom provided by desktop is simply filled up with sidebars and ads.
Designers just don't know what to do with the extra space.
We've forgotten how to design for the desktop.
