MISO's 2025 Value Proposition is here. For the first time, the analysis captures the value of regional transmission planning alongside energy and ancillary services, market coordination and capacity sharing, using an updated methodology developed with The Brattle Group. The result: MISO delivered approximately $7.6 billion in net benefits last year, a benefit-to-cost ratio of about 21 to 1. Since 2007, MISO has delivered more than $57.6 billion in benefits. As load growth accelerates and reserve margins tighten, coordination across a 15-state region only grows more valuable, and this report shows why. And for the first time since 2021, the report looks forward too: estimated net benefits could reach $16 billion by 2035 and $23.8 billion by 2045. MISO has launched the fifth cycle of its Expedited Resource Addition Study (ERAS) process, adding 15 projects and approximately 7.3 GW of proposed new capacity to its interconnection pipeline. The Cycle 5 portfolio spans natural gas, solar, wind and battery storage resources across MISO's North, Central and South regions, helping meet growing electricity demand across the region. Since ERAS launched, 58 projects representing nearly 29 GW of proposed capacity have been or will be studied. Of those, 38 projects totaling approximately 18 GW have advanced to completed generator interconnection agreements, with an additional 5 projects representing approximately 3 GW nearing completion. Why is it 83 with a dew point of 73 at 8:40 in mid September?!?
41
And then came September …
Indiana was the only state in the country that did not experience above-normal temperatures this summer
