In 1990 a 22-year-old high school employee started sleeping with a 15-year-old student. A few months later he shot her husband in their living room, and she said she had no idea. Pamela Smart worked at a school in Derry, New Hampshire, and Billy Flynn was one of the kids there. He testified that she told him she needed her husband Greg dead because a divorce would cost her everything, and that she'd leave him if he didn't do it. Greg was 24. They had been married less than a year. Billy and three friends waited for him inside the house. That night Pamela came home, found Greg on the floor and ran to the neighbors screaming. All four teenagers cooperated with prosecutors, and all four are free today. Billy got out in 2015. Pamela got life without parole and spent the next 34 years saying she was innocent. In the video below she sits in a New York prison in 2024 with gray hair, reading a statement she wrote herself. For the first time she admits it. "I am the one to blame for his absence from this world." She said she spent years deflecting blame because it was the only way she could live with it. Greg's family said she still didn't say his name. In 2025 the governor refused to even give her a hearing. The boy who pulled the trigger is free and she's still inside. Is that justice, or did she get punished for being the adult in the room?
