You're too talented to be begging for opportunities. Create what you can't find.

I’m so excited to announce my upcoming @Tubi series, ASKING FOR A FRIEND, directed by me! AFAF is a sketch & interview comedy show that expands the fictional world I’ve been lucky to share with such a supportive audience over the past 5 years. I am so thankful ❤️

There are not enough people speaking from the seller's perspective. Another reason why most of these catalog brokers are trash. music controls the money but you’re letting the money control the market.
On one hand, there needs to be a lot more discussion around music catalog sales and advances against your royalties and your publishing earnings. The issue is the loudest people/people with the most visibility are speaking from the buyers perspective (funds, investors)

So when you have more sellers than you have buyers, and there's more assets than there is people to service those assets, a lot of the information is going to be skewed towards the investors but presented to the sellers as gospel.

But the sellers aren't going to know that so they will never understand that they are operating from a disadvantage. There are not enough people speaking from the seller's perspective.

😂🙇🏾‍♂️🙇🏾‍♂️🙇🏾‍♂️🙇🏾‍♂️🙇🏾‍♂️🙇🏾‍♂️🤲🏾🤲🏾🤲🏾🤲🏾‼️‼️‼️‼️💎💎💯💯💯💯 Why do you think I left people alone ALONG TIME AGO. I stand strong as a man and an operator of systems on my own😎🔑🏫🔐 Keep that division over there. We moving as one this way & we can stand alone as well😁🔋🔑💎
Music artists are surrounded by people that reinforce music industry standards. This is why there are so many similar stories of failure and betrayal. Everyone in the music industry is learning from everyone in the music industry.

Former NBA all star Vin Baker names his power forward Mount Rushmore? I think one of these guys is usually a unanimous pick #NBA #fearthedeer #SeeHendo

Damn. I forgot to write this article about Elliot Wilson. “Here’s exactly what Elliot Wilson should do next” I guarantee nobody is telling him to do what I think he should do. Basically, take what the defense gives you.

Steven Van Zandt had never acted professionally before The Sopranos. He still became one of the most unforgettable characters in television history. When David Chase saw Van Zandt induct The Rascals into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, he saw something special. That unexpected encounter helped open the door to a role that would turn the musician into Silvio Dante, Tony Soprano’s trusted friend and one of the most recognizable figures in the series. But Van Zandt didn’t simply show up and imitate a gangster. He built an entire identity for Silvio, writing a character biography and imagining a man who believed in the old-school Mafia code. Interestingly, he drew inspiration for Silvio’s loyalty to Tony from his own real-life friendship with Bruce Springsteen. That personal connection helped him understand the bond between two men who had built their lives around loyalty, trust, and shared history. Then there’s the iconic bandana. After a serious car accident in the 1970s left him with scarring and hair loss, Van Zandt adopted the headwear that eventually became part of his signature look. On The Sopranos, the hairpieces and distinctive appearance helped him mentally step into another identity. His philosophy was fascinating: every person has the capacity to become someone different. Sometimes, changing how you look and how you carry yourself can unlock a confidence you never knew you had. Van Zandt even described working on The Sopranos as the greatest acting school imaginable. Think about that: one of television’s most convincing mobsters was played by a musician who entered the profession without traditional acting experience. It’s a reminder that the right opportunity, a strong imagination, and a willingness to take a risk can reveal talents you never expected to possess. What makes Silvio Dante so iconic: Steven Van Zandt’s natural performance, his character’s old-school Mafia principles, or the unforgettable mannerisms that made him instantly recognizable? #TheSopranos #StevenVanZandt #SilvioDante

This isn’t true at all.
I feel like hip-hop/rap is the only genre where we dismiss our legends calling them “washed up”. You’ll never see someone call Roger Waters who still preforming Pink Floyd hits washed. Or someone like Bruce Springsteen. It’s honestly sad.

The execs stink. Everyone is in a rush.
Question Why do you think music not selling like it use to ?

SoundCloud royalties are very real.
We can bring SoundCloud back fully if we collectively start commenting on tracks we like again.

I’m not going to pretend like I give a fuck about the Super Bowl half time show. I never cared about that shit.

You fight for the rights when the songs are new and before the decay begins. If you have been making music for 10+ years you have already seen peak earnings.
Why are they doing this? Has streaming really decimated their income? Artists used to fight to get their rights, now they're selling them.

Royalties are a depreciating asset. They’ve already made the bulk of their money from said records. Selling allows them to diversify instead of having everything tied up into one space. Pay less in taxes. Really high sales multiples. And you don’t have to sell 100% of everything.
Why are artist selling those catalogs right now?
