That 425bps of easing has done a lot of heavy lifting for credit growth, so I understand why the MPC wouldn't want to rock the boat. But inflation edging up to 6.8% from 6.6% changes the mood in the room. I'm leaning towards a hold tomorrow, with a cautious tone.
Ahead of tomorrow’s MPC meeting, the CBK is holding the Central Bank Rate at 8.75%, following a cumulative 425bps of easing from the 13.00% peak in 2024. With September inflation rising to 6.8% from 6.6%, the MPC faces a tighter trade-off between supporting credit growth and containing renewed price pressures.

Solid advice @RufasKe, especially the last part. Hunting IPOs is a skill, and if you haven't built it yet, there's no shame in getting a professional to walk you through the numbers first. It's cheaper than learning the hard way.
There's about 60 companies in the NSE and about 3400 companies in the Nasdaq composite. If the NSE lists a stock.. don't get Neuron Activation, consider its potential vs 3400+60+whatever other markets you consider as potential. In my books, 1 IPO brings in 1/ (3400 + 60 + BTC)

Honestly, today's NSE [@NSE_PLC] session felt like the market is catching its breath. Indices slipped slightly, but the gains we did see were stock-specific: KQ +5.09%, SGL +3.19%. Buyers are picking their spots, not chasing the whole board. I like that kind of discipline.
NSE DAILY MARKET PERFORMANCE | 06/10/2026 A bad day in the market today. All indices declined. * TOP GAINER: KQ -> It was among the top losers yesterday and the most-traded stock yesterday. * TOP LOSER: Nation Media Group -> It was the top gainer yesterday and the most-traded stock yesterday.

Inflation in 2025 was 4.07%. You cant cook economic data the way you cook investment returns.
How is this economic transformation? 1. WAGES: Latest KNBS nominal wage growth is 5.9%. 2. INFLATION: Latest inflation is 6.8% 3. Means 1% NEGATIVE REAL INCOME GROWTH, (5.9 minus 6.8) before factoring increased taxes and deductions of another 6%. 4. Even by the most charitable standards, that can’t be economic transformation, it’s more like ECONOMIC REGRESSION. 5. THE POINT? the transformation agenda has inherent big flaws and it ought to be re-examined. The flaw is the assumption that government doing big projects like housing and CAIPs will drive economic growth. It simple has not. To the contrary, there are indicators it’s widening the gap btn the rich and poor as the elites siphon off taxes thru opaque contracts.

Kenya is set to formalize open banking. The National Payment System Bill 2026 would require banks, M-Pesa and Airtel Money to share customer data (with consent) across platforms, letting third parties build new financial services.

Dangote's Nigerian refinery IPO is the one everyone's asking me about right now. He's selling a 3% stake for Sh200.8bn, 4.1bn shares at Sh49.25 each, to nearly double capacity to 1.4m barrels/day.

Kenya's mortgage market grew 10% (Sh27.9bn) in 2025, its best run in a decade as average rates fell to 13.5% from 15.2%. Average mortgage size rose to Sh10m, repayment periods stretched to 11.5 years. Cheaper credit, bigger loans, longer runway; a real home financing revival.

Cooking gas prices are set to rise in Kenya next month. Saudi Aramco butane jumped 25.8% to $628, propane 23.2% to $494, both driven by Middle East conflict disruptions. Since Kenya sources most LPG from the region, expect that pinch to hit households soon.

The number of Kenyan bank accounts holding over Sh500,000 rose 5.7% to 781,997 in 2025, up from 739,803; even as GDP growth slowed to 4.6%. These accounts are just 0.97% of all 80.68m accounts, a stark snapshot of how concentrated wealth really is.

Kenya's mini-mall boom continues, Knight Frank tracks a 645,300 sq ft pipeline of new developments over the next 3 yrs. Youthful consumers are driving it, treating malls as social/experience hubs, not just shopping stops. Neighbourhood retail (30k-100k sq ft) is the sweet spot.

The High Court has nullified Treasury's sale of its 15% Safaricom stake to Vodacom, ruling the "partial divestiture" was actually a disguised takeover that handed Vodacom effective control, in breach of the Constitution. All approvals quashed; the stake reverts to GoK.

Kenya Power sold 12,792.42 GWh in the year to June, up 12.2% y/y, its sharpest jump in four years, driven by 411,710 new connections. Revenue upside looks likely from last year's Sh219.29bn base, but lower tariffs and rising Ethiopia import reliance temper the optimism.

NSE investor wealth dropped Sh158bn in a week as blue-chips retreated from profit-taking after the August rally. Market cap fell to Sh4.126tn from its Sep 3 high of Sh4.285tn. Middle East tensions and Red Sea shipping risks are adding to investor jitters.

We work hard earning forex through tea, coffee, flowers, tourism, then ship most of it back out for fuel. Petroleum imports hit Sh511bn in 2025, more than tea, flowers, fruits, veg and coffee earned combined (Sh442bn). Kenya's biggest export might just be forex.

Kenya's fuel supply just lost its Plan B. Saudi Arabia shut its 1,200km East-West pipeline; the Hormuz-bypass route, after drone attacks near Riyadh and Medina. With both the Strait of Hormuz and this alternative now compromised, Kenya's import risk just got real.

EA private investment deals climbed 10% to 66 transactions in the 7 months to July 2026 (up from 60), per I&M Burbidge Capital, spanning PE, VC, M&A and DFI activity. Even with Middle East conflict headwinds, capital is still finding its way into the region.

Consumer durables lending just overtook real estate credit in Kenya Sh502.2bn vs Sh445.9bn as of June 2026. Durables grew 9.8% y/y while real estate loans shrank Sh6.1bn. Banks are clearly derisking from real estate, and chasing faster-turnover consumer credit instead.
