It compounds both ways Everybody's heard the one about getting one percent better every day. I've heard it so many times it quit meaning anything. Then somebody flipped it this week. One percent worse every day doesn't sound like much either. Both of them compound. That one landed. Because I never decided to get out of shape. I never sat down and planned to sleep worse, drink a little more, walk a little less. It was one percent. One skipped walk. One more episode. One “I'll start Monday.” Nothing you'd notice in a day. Plenty you'd notice in ten years. That's the bad news. The good news is the math doesn't care which way you point it. I'm in my fifties. I'm not turning into a new man by Christmas.
