CHRISTA PIKE UPDATE: Pike's attorneys say the full extent of her physical, mental and psychological injuries from Tennessee's botched execution remain unknown. In an October 14 filing, her defense requests 120 days to investigate her injuries and amend her lawsuit. The state has offered just 30 days after her release from the prison infirmary. In a separate filing, attorney Randy Spivey alleges the execution team used 10 needles while struggling to find IV access. As reported, Pike complained that her arm felt like it was "about to burst open" before surviving two lethal doses of pentobarbital. A hearing scheduled for today, October 23, was canceled under an October 22 order. No word on the rescheduling.
