This was the most encouraging part of today, imo. The guys stepping up now are Dilly high school recruits, which is a reason to have some optimism for the future. Tough to have a great hit rate in the portal every year, but good homegrown talent can lessen that need.
We knew ASU’s 2026 class was talented, and several balled out today. Cardae Mack: 4 TD Julian Hugo: Team-best 4th sack Daquwan Dunn: Good in coverage, great punt team coverage Jake Fette: Poised off the bench as he takes the reins. Exciting future-is-here moment for the Devils (some may say a bit later than it should have been)

I can’t believe people are calling for Kenny Dillingham’s job. Turned this program around, activated the Valley, first-round draft picks, beat top-ranked opponents, led ASU to a CFP appearance. The waters get murky for the first time, and people are already ready to cave? Smh

If Mikey Keene can’t go, Arizona State needs to go with Jake Fette out of halftime. Period.

I won’t tell people how to fan — especially in this economy — but abandoning this team isn’t the answer, imo. Good programs have fan support that doesn’t disappear in an instant. Team has really struggled, but I’ll be there. Could argue players need support now more than ever.
Kenny Dillingham on the environment he expects at Mountain America Stadium Saturday: “I have no clue. I would hope for a really loud, sold-out environment because we’re playing college football. Highs and lows are gonna happen, I’m sorry…But the best way for our team to win is support and home field advantages.” @FOX10Phoenix

Rays-Brewers isn’t going to get as much hype as a big-market matchup, but this is going to be some of the best baseball we’ve seen in a while. Youth coaches everywhere are just going to need to roll the tape on this series for years to come.

Some ASU thoughts from a guy who isn’t around them: 1. Need a QB change. Not everything has been Boley’s fault, but he hasn’t been part of solution 2. Trenches are weak. Need to be way better there in future years 3. Identity from previous teams is nonexistent

4. No idea how the defense is this bad. Not surprised the DL hasn’t been good, very surprised secondary has been this bad. 5. Mack is a major bright spot. Need to keep getting him more carries 6. You learn more from failure than success. Hope Kenny can do so with this year

Season isn’t over. Let’s rattle off some Ws. But I’d be lying if I said this might be the least competitive ASU team I’ve watched since I started following the program in ‘14 as a freshman. I can live with overmatched teams like ‘23 — this is far worse, imo.

Kenny Dillingham is the right guy. Still believe that. But it’s imperative ASU can thread the needle between portal additions and built-in culture. Seems so difficult for coaches to know what they have in a team in this era, and Kenny and Co. just have to be better.

What a day in College Football. Georgia, Texas, Alabama and Arizona State all go down, with Notre Dame currently on the ropes. Can’t predict this sport!
