This piece of music, alongside Godzilla’s classic theme, has been stuck in my head ever since I saw Godzilla Minus Zero. It's haunting yet incredibly cool. Simple, yet so effective 🔥

The meaning behind this shot and the entire scene in Godzilla Minus Zero was genuinely unexpected. Its connection to a certain character's motives was incredibly emotional. The weight of what it symbolised really hit me. Damn...

I loved Godzilla Minus Zero just as much as the first film! I gushed about Godzilla Minus One in my review! #GodzillaMinusZero

You MUST watch Godzilla Minus Zero in IMAX! What an experience 🤩

After watching Godzilla Minus Zero, I'm convinced Takashi Yamazaki would make an incredible live-action Monster Hunter film. Just imagine what he could do within that world, its monsters and the scale of its hunts 🤩
Okay, this post seems to have gained quite a bit of traction on the Japanese timeline, and I've noticed some people interpreting it as me saying the scene was sad because of what America would experience, or that I was sympathising with the Americans. I've also seen comments along the lines of "that's what America did to us" and "this is all because of your country" (I'm not even American by the way 😂).
I completely understand that this is an incredibly sensitive subject, especially given the historical context, and I respect why people might interpret the scene that way. However, I think my original post may not have translated quite as intended in Japanese, so I wanted to clarify what I meant.
What made me emotional was understanding Murakami's motivations, his loss, and the trauma that shaped his perspective. I could understand why he wanted to do some of the things he planned on doing, from his point of view, he felt justified in what he was imagining. Whether his actions were right or wrong is another matter entirely.
The emotional weight of that scene came from what Murakami had endured and what his motivations represented throughout the film. It wasn't about feeling sad for America or imagining what would happen to Americans if Godzilla attacked New York. Of course, seeing what happens to people in that scene was horrifying in its own right, but that wasn't the reason behind my original post.
I hope that clears up what I was trying to express in the original post.
Saw Godzilla Minus Zero early in IMAX! As the sequel to my favourite Godzilla film, expectations were sky-high. I gotta say, Toho has delivered something special once again!
