COVID-19 circulates year-round, and surges can happen at any time. Prevention shouldn't be limited to periods of increased transmission. Whether you're trying to avoid infection or prevent spreading COVID-19 to others, taking precautions matters. Wearing a well-fitting respirator, improving indoor air quality, and staying home when sick can help reduce transmission and protect our communities. #COVID #COVID19 #LongCOVID #PublicHealth #InfectionPrevention

I'm so impressed with CC people in their 20s and 30s. Developmentally, it's just a very difficult time in general, focused on "launching," so there is a lot of pressure surrounding relationships, education, and work. Since pandemic onset, you have lived through immense threats, which much of society stopped acknowledging in 2022. That can create immense stigma, isolation, and alienation. You may be dealing with health issues or caregiving for family earlier than anticipated, or both. These challenges are often much harder if money is especially tight, or you're a part of an underrepresented or minoritized group or groups. It's just difficult in so many way. Anyway, you're the best. I see you. You're way ahead of your time. Keep fighting. 💪😷

🎯 I’ve spoken to numerous researchers/scientists/immunologists -What I’ve learned is that -there are NO good viruses -there are good & bad bacteria -the immune system is not a muscle -a Virus doesn’t exercise it, it triggers it & can confuse it & that’s bad as many find out
Medical professionals out here suggesting that masking in a high-risk healthcare environment HARMS children because children "need exposure" to dangerous pathogenic illness to "build their immune system" should result in immediate expulsion from the field, directly into the sun.

A Sydney hospital study found SARS-CoV-2 RNA in 39% of air samples despite good ventilation (avg CO₂ 614 ppm) • ED: 80% positive • ICU: 20% positive • Virus found in air samples a week before an outbreak Researchers suggest masks and air purifiers to reduce transmission.

Mel is one of those people who helps others, even when she has no resources & even fewer spoons. She’s helped me in the past, & I’d love to swing the universe in her favour. If you can support her fridge fund / buy a wish list item / lend a hand, please do.

Most of my peers really do know that SARS2 is a destroyer of worlds. They simply have a myriad excuses why they cannot uproot everything as I did. They’ll resent me to their dying breath rather than examine why they *chose* to destroy their (and their kids’) health and future. 5

When I talk to people about the ongoing impact of COVID, I find it helpful to lead with a concrete, undeniable indicator, which is that there are about 3,000,000 more disabled workers in the US than at pandemic onset.
PMC COVlD Update, Week of Oct 12, 2026 (Posted 48 hrs early) 🔸Levels revised upward for a double-peak 🔸39-state outbreak (see ALT) 🔸PMC estimates 750,000 new daily infections, & 1 in 65 people actively infectious 🔸1st time starting Oct w/rising levels since 2020 1/🧵

mb the reason ableists are able to muster some degree of politeness for wheelchairs but not respirators is that when they see a wheelchair, they can internally celebrate that they don't need one, but when they see a respirator, they must uncomfortably wonder if they need one, too

This is an inherent problem with chronic illness. The better you manage it the more invisible it is. But the effort of managing it is also invisible.
Just so you know: If someone has a chronic illness, but they carefully manage it so that you can see no signs of the chronic illness, they still have a chronic illness.

Some general information for our community about what data our govt holds on you - even before the data matching starts. It’s called PLIDA. PLIDA is the Person Level Integrated Data Asset, run by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. It links government records about almost everyone who has lived in Australia since 2006. Medicare, Centrelink and tax records form the backbone. Each person gets a single ID number, which connects their records across 37 datasets and more than 77,000 variables. Names and street addresses are removed. Location is kept down to small areas, in some tables the mesh block, which can be just a few dozen homes. What's in it (full list attached): - every Medicare claim and PBS script since 2006, and cause of death - Centrelink payments, disability codes, work capacity and rent assistance - tax returns, payroll, super and every property sale - mental health diagnoses from ABS surveys, including suicidality - every NDIS plan, payment, provider, goal, review request and survey answer since 2013, including SDA and SIL funding - aged care records to 2025, including dementia diagnosis dates, home care assessments, respite and entry to residential care - veterans' service and health records - state records from NSW and Victoria covering child protection, police incidents, youth justice, family violence, public housing, homelessness and ambulance callouts - home insurance policies from six major insurers, handed to the ABS Children At 11:30am on Wednesday 23 September, the ABS published details of the Life Course Dataset. It links ACT and SA records to PLIDA: 680,000 ACT health records, 137,000 ACT education records and 1.3 million SA records. These cover births, kindy and Year 7 health checks, NAPLAN, school behaviour management, hospital and emergency visits, mental health, public housing and homelessness. It builds family and household structures, and where a relationship isn't recorded the ABS can estimate it. The ABS wants to add more states and data from community organisations. The 2023 Budget announced and funded this ($16.4 million), and approved researchers have had access since March 2025. Most people have never heard of it. Who can use it Approved researchers from government, universities and policy institutes, inside the ABS DataLab. The ABS says private businesses can't access PLIDA, and the insurers who supply data can't see the linked data. Government employees can. Your data is shared under laws, not with your consent. Then there’s the ChatGPT story. @sama fyi babes:) The day after the ABS release, the Prime Minister revealed that an OpenAI agent got into a Medicare statistics website in June. The government wasn't told until 10 September. The government and OpenAI say no personal records were accessed. The bigger risk sits with the records government itself holds, links and shares, and who it shares them with. Palantir The NDIA shares restricted NDIS participant data with the Fraud Fusion Taskforce, a group of 25 agencies, and with the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC), which uses Palantir. An FOI response from ACIC referred to the process for ingesting a Fraud Fusion Centre dataset into Palantir. The NDIA denies using Palantir itself. Federal agencies have spent an estimated $60 million on Palantir contracts. We have no evidence yet that PLIDA data goes to Palantir but yeahhhh. Breaches we already know about - 2022: CTARS, client software used by NDIS providers, was hacked and sensitive health data leaked. - 2023: the HWL Ebsworth hack affected NDIS participants. - November 2023: an NDIA staff member was charged with allegedly passing participants' names, dates of birth and addresses to two people operating as NDIS providers. Media reported about 11,000 records. The Fraud Fusion Taskforce found it. - September 2026: the Quest Apartment Hotels breach hit nearly two million customers and included NDIS and Medicare numbers. #auspol

One of the most successful psyops is convincing people that marginalized people are annoying - because once someone’s suffering annoys you, abandoning them starts to feel righteous.

Patients with complex medical conditions often develop emotional distress, which may include anxiety and depression. It's not because these people suddenly acquired a psychiatric disorder on top of the medical condition: it's because people are reacting to hardship and burden caused by the medical condition.
Human emotional distress is ubiquitous. Psychiatric disorder is pretty rare. Conflating them causes big trouble. 30 yrs ago, wild fad psych diagnosis was promoted by Big Pharma/mostly done by the MDs. Internet is now to blame & the loose self labelling is done by the patients.

My goal is to make myself obsolete - that the idea of a "specialty center" for this seems ridiculous - as ridiculous as it would be to have to go to a "specialty center" for appendicitis. This condition isn't as rare as its represented to be. There are fundamental systems-level issues to overcome, and now we have the resources to tackle them. Stay tuned.

Holy shit! This is the biggest single investment into improving CSF leak care, ever.
Hard to put into words what this means. A $50M gift to help us transform care for patients with CSF leaks. I’m incredibly grateful, humbled by the trust, and feel an enormous responsibility to make sure this changes what is possible for these patients. A remarkable day. And really, just the beginning. news.cuanschutz.edu/news-sto…

The science does not support that the pandemic is over, nor that repeat infection is benign. The evidence is vast, consistent, and only points the other way. There is no shortage of data - only a refusal to reconcile with it.

I recently left public health. I was the only masker at my org. since 2021. Not a single MD, DrPH, MPH, epidemiologist, RN, data scientist, community health worker, etc. masked since then. It enraged me every day; it still does whenever I see my former coworkers in our building.
