This type of use case is one I've been particularly excited about. Emerging AI tools have given tremendous leverage to the individual. Now you can get the services of a researcher, editor, designer, developer, photographer, etc. But the business model creates a lose lose It's either: (1) Free for the user, which then accrues all the usage to a few players who are bankrolled to run at a loss and build marketshare. A lose for developers trying to build new and exciting experiences, and a lose for the world missing out on those potential experiences. or (2) A subscription (often $10-30/mo), which is prohibitively expensive for 99% of the world, leaving a lot of individuals with creative energy and passion on the sidelines. A lose for them, and a lose for the world not getting their output. Micropayments create a win win business model. A developer can create a profitable business from day 1 without needing upfront cash. A user can pay for what they need, when they need it. So if someone is writing a blog post, they can pay $0.25 for a research session with an LLM, then pay another $0.10 to have it edited, and then pay $0.50 to get a bunch of graphics from a text to image model. Now that individual has a high fidelity blog post that has thousands of dollars of external inputs all for less than a dollar. They can then post that and charge $0.25 to unlock the full article, getting them paid. Or maybe an individual wants to use these tools to apply for a job. They could pay $0.25 to an LLM to help with their resume, and pay $2 to @UPIC_AI to get professional headshots. The possibilities keep going. To me, these types of use cases are exciting because they empower developers to empower individuals, and it's done in the most meritocratic way because money is flowing to the things that actually get used. Not sitting in subscriptions that might never get touched. To me that's the purest form of healthy capitalism, which produces the best products and innovation.
