We have just released the Scottish Teachers for Permanence End of Academic Year 2024-25 Survey Report 🚨 Scotland’s Teaching Profession is in Crisis 🚨 From 555 teachers we found: 📊 80.5% trapped in insecure work in 2024-25 📉 Only 12.5% moved to permanent posts for 2025-26 💔 47.9% face supply-only work or unemployment next year ❌ 60.4% say their service is not recognised by local authorities ⏳ Nearly half of teachers with 6+ years’ experience are STILL denied permanency This is not just a workforce crisis — it’s a human emergency. One teacher, asked about their biggest success this year, replied: “Not committing suicide.” The report contains dozens of similar testimonies describing marriage breakdown, family separation, poverty, unsafe working conditions, and a mental health crisis among Scotland’s educators. 🚨BREAKING: The @scotgov says the attainment gap has dropped by 60%! 🚨 Amazing! Except… it hasn’t. The UK Statistics Authority has confirmed the stat the First Minister used wasn’t about attainment at all. It was based on what pupils go on to do after they’ve left school. Not how they actually performed in school. So not literacy, not numeracy, not exam results. Just what job or course they ended up in nine months later. And this wasn’t even part of the official government framework for measuring the attainment gap. Ministers were meant to use that. They didn’t. If the actual data doesn’t tell the story you want, just swap it out for something that does. Simple. You can’t close the attainment gap? No problem. Just rebrand it.

These are fully qualified teachers: • With university degrees • With teaching qualifications • Teaching YOUR children • Keeping YOUR schools running • Stepping in whenever needed Yet Perth & Kinross Council doesn't even consider them employees. They're literally pretending these educators don't exist in their system. Other councils across Scotland recognise and employ their supply teachers. Why is P&K Council different? ❌ They won't count them ❌ They won't acknowledge them as employees ❌ They're treating skilled professionals as if they don't exist 🤔 Teachers can't get permanent jobs in Scotland - and here's a council that won't even count their supply teachers as employees This is the state of Scottish education in 2025.
