Great to be at Harvard Kennedy School this week to discuss London’s work to improve safety and trust in diverse communities. From tackling VAWG to our world-leading Stop & Search research, these are important issues for all of us. Thank you to Professor Leary & @CenterforCities.

No one should be targeted or abused for their faith - & that includes our hardworking @metpoliceuk officers who work around the clock to keep us all safe. This officer represents the best of the Met. In London our diversity is our greatest strength & we will always stand united.
Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has responded to the unacceptable online abuse directed at a Met officer who received an award at yesterday's annual Police Federation Conference. PC Fiona Shaik Umar was recognised for the outstanding contribution she has made for women in policing.

The vast majority of criticism was not because she is Muslim, but because she was not following very basic gun safety rules. Her finger was on the trigger and she pointed the barrel of the gun at a fellow officer. gunsafetyrules.nra.org hunter-ed.com/muzzleloader/s… x.com/BasilTheGreat/… x.com/WilkieisBack66… x.com/LozzaFox/statu…

Retail crime doesn't end with the thief. Over the past two weeks we've been targeting the retailers suspected of buying and reselling stolen goods that help fuel shoplifting across London.

Improving public safety and building community trust in policing go hand in hand. It was an honour to meet @BostonPolice Commissioner Michael Cox and @MayorWu's Senior Advisor for Community Safety, Isaac Yablo, to share experiences and ideas from our great cities.

For seven years the #SharedEndeavourFund, funded by @MOPACldn, has helped organisations tackle hate, extremism and radicalisation. I am so proud that London is leading the way & I want to say thank you to the organisations creating safer, stronger and more resilient communities.

I sat down with Deputy Mayor for Communities and Social Justice @debs_wb to discuss hate crime and the work we are doing to tackle it. Here’s a snippet of our conversation, covering the support available and how we are building a safer, more inclusive London for all.

An inspiring morning launching the seventh year of the Shared Endeavour Fund, working with partners across London to strengthen communities against extremism and stand up to hate and intolerance. Hate has no place in our city. #Sharedendeavourfund

I'm determined to build a safer London for everyone. In Westminster, overall crime has fallen by 17%, including major reductions in theft and robbery after City Hall provided record funding for the police. We'll keep working with the Met and local partners to drive crime down.

Hate crime and harassment have no place in our city, including on our transport network. We are working everyday to tackle and prevent these crimes, including @TfL, who will be using immersive technology and training this week. #hatecrimeawarenessweek bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cmkg…

I was pleased to visit Sister System with @bphillipsonMP to hear how they're supporting care-experienced girls & young women through mentoring, early intervention & trauma-informed support. Watch to learn how they are transforming lives by centring the voices of those they serve.

The Met’s tactics against phone thieves, and the organised crime networks behind them, are getting results. Phone thefts in London are now at a four-year low, thanks to tough action and record police funding from City Hall.

In the last year there have been 16,000 fewer phones stolen in London, and we're backing the Met and partner organisations to keep up the pressure. I spoke to @LBCNews about the work going on to make our city safer for all.

Antisemitism has no place in our city. Today, as a Jewish Londoner my thoughts are with the innocent victims of three years ago. At @MOPACLdn, we continue to work with the @MetPoliceUK and partners to drive out hate and make London safe and welcoming for everyone.
