Our research letter in @JAMAPediatrics: Vaping Cessation Methods Used by Adolescents
In 2021-2023, teens 15-17 year old who vape:
~50% tried to quit in the past year
~34% want to quit in the next 6 months
~Few used evidence-based supports to help quit.

While nearly half of adolescents who vape attempt to quit each year, few use evidence-based cessation methods and instead increasingly rely on apps. ja.ma/4eVLtAJ @KayeJesseT

Excited to share I received an NIH K23 Career Development Award!
This $1M award will support my research to explore how machine learning (a subfield “AI”) might help to personalize treatment in real time for people trying to address their tobacco use.

Really important study by @EdenEvins et al. of youth quitting nicotine vaping using varenicline. Much better than placebo or usual care. The first really definitive trial of this.

Highlights the need to continue to evaluate innovative ways to support adults with socioeconomic disadvantages who want to quit smoking cigarettes.
In this RCT evaluating enhancements to tobacco quitlines for adults with socioeconomic disadvantage who were smoking after quitline treatment, none of the adaptive treatment strategies robustly improved long-term abstinence. ja.ma/4fijqe6
