Financial infrastructure should be understandable enough to inspect, not just powerful enough to execute. Pact emphasizes readable contract logic and supports formal verification. Thatβs a design philosophy worth taking seriously.

P2P trading without ever giving up your keys. π
A true peer-to-peer order book on all 20 chains, powered by on-chain escrow. This is exactly what Kadena DeFi needs.
Huge congrats to @SmartPacts on the launch! π

Smart Pacts Trade is live on Kadena mainnet: a peer-to-peer order book for Kadena tokens, on all 20 chains.
β’ Post an offer: sell X of one token for Y of another. Your tokens wait in an escrow account that belongs to that offer alone.
β’ Anyone can take all or part of it in one transaction, signed only by them.
β’ Cancel any time and the rest comes back to you. Offers never expire.
β’ Fee: 1% of what each side receives, never more than the rate when the offer was posted.
β’ Your own wallet signs everything. The site holds no keys.

Self-custody is power, but it comes with responsibility.
These 3 rules are the absolute bare minimum for keeping your kadena:native safe. Thanks to @eckoWALLET for the vital reminder. π

A lost phone shouldn't mean a lost wallet. Three steps to a backup that holds up: 1. Write the phrase on paper, offline. 2. Keep two copies stored apart. 3. Never type it into anything that asks. The eckoWALLET team will never ask for your seed. docs.eckowallet.com

Flux reaches its first annual block reward reduction at block 3,071,200, announced on 24 Oct. The change is mechanical: the reward per block steps down at a set height, and every node enforces the same rule at that height. It's keyed to block height because a chain can't read a calendar; it counts blocks. The schedule has been in @RunOnFlux's code from the start, so anyone could see this coming years out. I like emission you can verify years in advance; it's one less variable when you're building on a chain.

Smart contracts shouldnβt merely execute instructions. They should define who has authority, under which conditions, and within what limits. Pactβs capability model makes programmable authority a compelling area to explore.

AI agents will need more than wallets. Theyβll need enforceable boundaries around what they can do. Pact capabilities offer an interesting foundation for expressing permissions directly in programmable financial systems.

π§ Pact Quest #7 opens tomorrow at 14:00 UTC β Pact keysets: how many keys must sign?
A Pact keyset lists public keys and a predicate that says how many of them must sign. Which built-in predicate is satisfied as soon as at least two of the keyset's keys have signed, however many keys it holds?
(lowercase, hyphenated, exactly as you would write it in Pact β the name only, no parentheses)
Read the Kadena CE docs β the answer is one page away:

Pact Quest #6 is closed β Thank you all.
The answer was with-default-read. It reads a table row and binds the columns you name, but when the key is missing it takes them from a default object instead of aborting. That is how a balance reads as 0.0 before an account's first credit.
The ones it is easily confused with:
β’ with-read β same shape, no fallback: a missing row aborts the transaction
β’ read β returns the whole row, also aborts on a missing key
β’ select β scans a table with a where clause rather than reading one key
