I've been thinking about the whole "Professional Catholic" thing lately. Is it more noble to sacrifice income from your real job to spend more time and focus on sharing the faith, or is it more noble to do what you can on the side so you don't have to tie your faith content to income? Many people mistakenly believe that "Professional Catholics" make more money than if they worked a regular job. This may be true for a very small minority, but I think most barely survive on the income generated from their endeavors and live in a constant state of insecurity. For most, this work is a sacrifice, not a cushy grift. Sure, some make decisions solely based on money and prominence, but I think they'll ultimately reveal themselves as they chase trends and dollars that likely aren't there. The "Professional Catholic" may or may not be more virtuous than the part-timer, and the opposite is also true. If you quit your job solely because you think you can make more money in this space, your motives are suspect. But it's also true that if you refuse to sacrifice your real job (security/income) to dedicate yourself full-time to sharing the faith, then your motives are also suspect. For me, the question comes down to this: what am I called to do? Has God called me to do this and made a way for me to provide for my family through this work, and can I stay true to that calling without compromising the message and mission? The minute we have to sacrifice our integrity, or the minute that staying true means we can't provide, then it's time to wrap it up.

I had no idea he would literally show off the ballroom today.
As long as the White House renovations continue, I can cope with the blue wave. All you people freaking out about gas prices and another endless war don’t have your priorities straight.

Having the right ideas about God isn't enough. Many believe faith is just intellectual assent, but Jesus warned that being invited to the banquet requires action. It is not just about the invitation; you have to actually show up. #Faith #ChristianLiving

On this All Souls Day, find peace in the promise that Jesus rejects no one who comes to Him in faith. We don't have to be perfect to start; He meets us exactly where we are and makes us whole. It is His will to save. #AllSoulsDay #Faith

That was awesome.
So much incense used at Mass today that the fire alarm tripped, of course the fire department responded 🤣💨
