My Pledge If elected president, I pledge, inter alia, to: •serve one five-year term as President. • cut down the budget allocation for the Office of the President. • reintroduce the draft 2020 constitution for adoption. • carry out security sector reforms. restore trust in governance. •reduce the Debt to GDP ratio by 2031. take a 20% pay cut. achieve measurable service delivery efficiencies in the social services sectors (health, education, electricity, water, etc) and restructure our diplomatic missions for efficiency and economic diplomacy. • This manifesto constitutes the social contract to transform the Gambia between the GFC/UDP led alliance and the people of the Gambia. Mayor Bensouda Dismisses Prospect of Council Vote of No Confidence, Hits Back at Barrow KM Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda has warned President Adama Barrow that any expectation that Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) councillors will pass a vote of no confidence against him is a waste of time. Speaking at a rally in Old Yundum, Mr. Bensouda said the KMC councillors remain loyal to the council and committed to their duties, and would never collude with the government to remove him from office unlawfully. He also reminded the President of the deaths of 66 children linked to contaminated syrup, as well as the killing of officers of the Police Intervention Unit (PIU). He further pointed to corruption allegations in the government raised in audit reports, on which he said no action has been taken. Turning the question back on the President, Mr. Bensouda asked whether Mr. Barrow’s own ministers would pass a vote of no confidence in him over the corruption in his government.
