Working at @bbcworldservice is something I’m fiercely proud of... reporting for it one day; a long held dream... After 4 glorious days in Italy, last week it happened - my very first BBC World Service package... soundcloud.com/user-53071345…

Spent the day talking to people who told me they’ve lost everything, in a fire that is still burning nearly 17 hours on in East London tonight…
Stumbled across @BowenBBC ‘s Our Man in The Middle East… (having run out of @MHconflicted) Haven’t enjoyed anything this much since I discovered the latter… Talking about his early use of #twitter & I remembered him replying to one of my 1st tweets & how over excited I got 🤣
Another remarkably insightful #ijf23 session yesterday. This time on #yeman ‘the unreported rather forgotten war’, the reasons behind it and the effects of it from @Afrahnasser and Laura Silvia Battaglia Al-Jalal #Perugia
Remarkable first session of the festival on surviving and thriving as a female journalist under authoritarian regimes in the Middle East. Really interesting perspectives from @RawanDamen @fatemahfarag #ijf23 #perugia
Slightly eerie atmosphere outside the Chinese embassy this morning as last nights #ChinaProtests candles still burn
Walked headlong into the #ChinaProtests outside the embassy in London tonight on my way into work… #acidentalreporter bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-as…
Just nipped out to buy a bottle of wine… Bumped headlong into @NoelGallagher Most exciting wine run of my life…
Galata Bridge - one of the first places I saw when I first visited Istanbul wide-eyed and full of wanderlust, and then a favourite hangout to watch the sunset, when I moved there 3 years later. Wish I was in town to go and see this dailysabah.com/arts/events/r…
I've just spoken to @bbcnewcastle ahead of bringing my Bill on bowel disease to @UKParliament this afternoon.
My Bill will force Govt to address the hidden epidemic of bowel disease in places like #NewcastleCentral & I'll be bringing local people's stories to the Commons.

Freelancing and the crazy shifts and turnarounds frequently required to actually push forwards, as well as pay your bills can be a bit isolating sometimes… Was really nice to be back amongst my tribe last night @JSchofieldTrust 🥰

More than a year since I left the country... I had such big plans after my amazing Sengal trip... The universe apparently had other plans... but just realised I didn't ever post my Senegal radio piece... So until I can leave the country again... soundcloud.com/kerry-alexand…
When you’re on your way in for a double shift, wondering if it’s nearly the weekend yet and this pops up on your phone... Thank you @JSchofieldTrust 🥰

Couldn't have put it better. #forgottenfreelancers #bbcfreelancers
A piece in @guardian about us. We're still being ignored, nobody seems to be taking responsibility and they're all passing the buck. This fiasco only highlights all that was wrong with the PAYE freelancer status.
