Three waves of ballistic missiles have been launched at Kyiv by Russian “humanitarians” since yesterday evening. They used 21 missiles. Unfortunately, numerous sites across the city have been hit and damaged: ordinary residential buildings, energy facilities, infrastructure at one of the railway stations and the metro, shopping malls, and businesses. Even a monastery is among the damaged sites. Our emergency services are working at all the affected locations. Twelve of our regions came under Russian attack overnight. In Kyiv and across the regions, 34 people were injured, including five children. As of now, two people have been confirmed killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Almost immediately after another round of talks, Russia launched a pointed attack. This means there has been no real change in its attitude toward everything that is happening. It is important to keep trying to find the right solutions to end this war. But when Russia responds to negotiations with ballistic missiles, real pressure on Russia is needed to bring about different steps – steps toward ending the killing. Stronger air defenses and the rapid delivery of missiles, the ability to destroy ballistic missile launchers, sanctions over the war – all of this must be in place. I am grateful to everyone who sees the situation for what it is and acknowledges the reality. The aggressor deserves to be treated accordingly. Ukraine deserves support. People's lives deserve protection. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine!

Q: Steve Witkoff called Putin 'a humanitarian'. Do you agree with that? Vance: I agree with Steve Witkoff saying something nice to a person who just released an American hostage

Absurd simpering obsequiousness from a representative of the most powerful country on earth, and another American humiliation, to add to the growing, growing list.
Steve Witkoff to Putin: You talk so much about my president, President Trump, being a humanitarian. You are a humanitarian also, sir, and I salute that, I commend you, and I thank you again.

It doesn't matter whether or not you agree with the proscription of Palestine Action. Imagine if Rooney had promised to fund ISIS or Al-Qaeda with the proceeds of her work. Would the New Statesman be up-in-arms about the decision to remove her books from sale then? I doubt it.

Islamist terrorists tried to murder Salman Rushdie and everyone associated with The Satanic Verses. Who precisely is threatening to murder Sally Rooney and the staff at Faber & Faber? Yvette Cooper?
If you ever sought out the novels of Sally Rooney in bookshops – when that was still possible – you’d know they sit in the fiction stacks adjacent to the novels of another SR whose books have been withdrawn in dastardly political circumstances. Until last week, “Rooney” and “Rushdie” had little in common beyond being shelfmates; now they have more than just a physical proximity. @tanjil_rashid_: This is censorship by other means newstatesman.com/comment/202…

I think Russia should stop murdering innocent human beings and should stop trying to conquer a neighboring country. Why can’t the U.S. administration say that, ever?

Man City scandal tip of the iceberg as football erodes from the top || Stephen McGowan "In Scotland people know how toxic the stench of scandal can be. Fourteen years have passed since Employee Benefits Trusts and side letters entered the national vocabulary and Rangers fell off a financial cliff. The bitter scars from those events still weep, angry and raw. "Former Ibrox chairman Sir David Murray popped up on the podcast Graeme Souness Tackles the other week to rouse sleeping dogs from their slumber. "Murray used his recent autobiography to appeal to Rangers supporters to remember him only for the good times. He was pushing the same line on the podcast, telling old mucker Souness that the Ibrox club were ‘targeted’ by an HMRC witch hunt. “'It hurts me very badly,' said Murray. 'Okay, I’m remembered for the end, but I would like to think I’m remembered for Laudrup, Gascoigne and 35 trophies.' "A bit like the captain of the Titanic asking people to remember him for a smooth push-off at Southampton, Murray knows better than anyone why HMRC used Rangers as a high-profile test case. "EBT arrangements were used between 2001 and 2010 as a form of disguised remuneration to avoid tax and national insurance contributions on player earnings. In 2017 even he had to admit that EBTs and the non-disclosure of side letters to the SFA or the SPL gave Rangers the ‘opportunity to get players that we perhaps would not be able to afford”. "While some still get misty eyed over Gazza and nine-in-a-row, then, plenty of Rangers fans blame the former owner for Craig Whyte, administration, Charles Green, Mike Ashley, liquidation, Sevco, Duff and Phelps and the recurring issues which led to just three trophies in 14 years. That’s David Murray’s legacy right there." 👇 𝘐𝘔𝘈𝘎𝘌: 𝘈𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘸 𝘔𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘯/𝘗𝘈 𝘈𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘷𝘦/𝘗𝘈 𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴
