Monster jump. Passes Astra, Argon and Fable 5.1. This will be open weights in less than two weeks.
Kimi K3.1 Pro launches at 4th on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index scoring 55, making large gains in agentic performance; it will be the leading open-weights model once its weights are published
@Kimi_Moonshot's new reasoning model gains 11 points over Kimi K3 (max, 44). It trails only Claude Opus 5.5 (max with fallback, 58), Claude Sonnet 5.5 (max with fallback, 56), and Muse Wonder Full (max, 56) on the Intelligence Index.
Once the weights for K3.1 Pro are released it will be the highest-scoring open weights model and the gap between the leading open weights and proprietary models on the Intelligence Index will narrow from 12 points to 3.
Key results:
β€ Large gains in agentic performance: Kimi K3.1 Pro scores 3rd on GDPval-AA with 1,846 Elo, up 312 Elo from Kimi K3, behind only Claude Opus 5.5 (1,866 Elo) and Muse Wonder Full (1,857 Elo). Kimi K3.1 Pro also achieves the highest score of any model on Terminal-Bench 4.0. K3.1 Pro scores 67%, up from 13% for Kimi K3 and ahead of Claude Sonnet 5.5 (64%). AutomationBench-AA, which tests agentic SaaS workflows, rises from 58% to 73%.
β€ Gains in other evals are more moderate: Humanity's Last Exam rises from 47% to 52%, CritPt from 23% to 25%, and SciCode from 59% to 61%. AA-Omniscience Index rises from 20 to 30, as the hallucination rate falls from 53% to 44% and accuracy rises from 48% to 51%.
β€ Cost per Task roughly equal to Kimi K3 at $1.98 per Task: K3.1 Pro uses 55K output tokens per Intelligence Index task, 14% more than Kimi K3 at 48K, while its first-party token prices are 33% lower.
Additional model details:
β€ Context window: 1M tokens.
β€ Size: 2.8T total, 104B active parameters
β€ Input modalities: Text and image
β€ Weights and license: Weights currently not published, Moonshot is expected to release the weights soon after launch
β€ Pricing: $2/$10/$0.20 per 1M input/output/cache hit tokens, 33% lower than Kimi K3 on all three rates.
Congratulations to the team at @Kimi_Moonshot on the release!

on the contrary, i'd argue we're testing the latter because you've already restricted the proliferation of frontier capabilities to only carefully vetted good guys. most of the other good guys are still handicapped and at the mercy of "benevolent token dictators" to access cutting edge models for carrying out any serious defensive work.
capable open weight models are still the only line of defense for the majority, and taking them away is only going to make things even worse. i won't deny there are risks but as sam said, "some bad things will happen but it's totally worth it".
models will continue to be developed with increasing capabilities beyond your jurisdiction, whether you like it or not. the bans aren't effective at stopping the bad guys, and they never have been. so the best bet is to open your door to more people who can help you defend. if only you'd let more eyes in, the planet would be patched way faster than you think.
and i hate to admit it, but there's also a third option everyone should be looking at if you're ever truly worried.
Everyone should be looking for data points to advance the longstanding debate in AI policy between βdiffuse dual-use capabilities rapidly so the good guys can defend themselvesβ and βrestrict capabilities proliferation to only carefully vetted good guys.β We are putting the former position to the test as we speak.
No motivated reasoning to reach your preferred conclusion; just pay attention and update as appropriate in whatever direction seems true. This is much too important for low-fidelity tribal polarization.
Modern day IP already stiffles creativity by making many forms of remixing and sampling illegal or absurdly expensive, what do you think making *art styles* is gonna add to that? The music industry is hell specifically because of that type of thinking
Copyrightable artstyles are a genuine nuclear bomb that would destroy art in a way that AI cannot dream of doing. The past 50 years of Copyright discourse has been about how that's a horrible idea

the anti piracy movement was a coordinated push and lobbying by companies to make you not own the files of the games that you bought and give you less power as a consumer and make it illegal to redistribute those files, the irony of that tweet is really impressive

The term 'piracy' to describe prohibited copying has always been morally repugnant. People downloading stuff on the internet are actually just like people that board your ship, hold a gun to your head, and take your stuff.

Purely a moral and terminology argument, but there's no such thing

Kind of crazy how these are obviously psy-op to make boomers go crazy and destroy society

It's very weird to me that gen z talk about piracy like it's this great taboo or retort like teenagers in the 90s talking about smoking weed or listening to metal music. Giggling like they just said some terrible thing.

Not very often that the top artist in one of these talking animal movies does actual honest to god idiosyncratic furry art

This seems like it's funny but the PHP thing is genuinely apocalyptic. A lot of websites are exposed and whoever's not doing this to try to fix their problem ASAP is genuinely a sitting duck.

I was looking for the line about retired people and found out there are a bunch of accounts posting the same line. Seems like someone really wants an inter-generational war.
