Understanding Paul’s Doctrinal Progression | KJB
Romans 5:1 KJB
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:”
As I continue studying Romans, I’m recognizing how beautifully Paul builds the doctrine of justification throughout chapters 1–4 before opening chapter 5 with a powerful declaration.
“THEREFORE.”
That one word connects everything Paul has already established.
He isn’t beginning a completely new argument. He’s drawing a conclusion from the doctrine he has carefully laid out.
📖 The Progression of Justification
Romans 1 — The Gentiles Are Guilty
Paul establishes the unrighteousness of mankind, particularly the Gentiles, who are without excuse before God.
Romans 2 — The Jews Are Also Guilty
Possessing the law does not make someone righteous before God. Both Jews and Gentiles stand guilty.
Romans 3 — Justification Is Freely by God’s Grace
Paul establishes that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

“Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:”
Justification isn’t something we earn through our works. It is freely given by God’s grace through the redemption accomplished in Christ.
Romans 4 — Justification Is by Faith, Not Works
Paul uses Abraham to demonstrate that righteousness is counted through faith apart from works.

“But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”
Paul establishes that justification rests upon faith rather than human performance.
❤️ Romans 5:1 — Therefore, We Have Peace With God
After establishing the doctrine of justification, Paul declares:
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:”
Notice the progression:
We are guilty → God justifies freely by His grace → justification is received by faith → therefore, we have peace with God.
Paul doesn’t say we must work toward obtaining peace with God.
He says:
“WE HAVE peace with God.”
This is an accomplished reality through Jesus Christ.
Our peace with God isn’t dependent upon our emotional condition, circumstances, or daily performance.
It is the result of being justified by faith.
And this is an important distinction:
Peace with God is not the same as always feeling emotionally peaceful.
Our emotions may fluctuate, but our justified standing in Christ remains secure.
📖 Romans 5 — The Results and Blessings of Justification
Romans 5 doesn’t merely repeat the doctrine Paul established in chapters 1–4.
It begins unfolding what justification has accomplished for the believer.
In Romans 5:1–11, Paul explains:
Peace with God through Jesus Christ (v. 1).
Access by faith into grace, wherein we stand (v. 2).
Hope of the glory of God (v. 2).
Rejoicing in tribulations, knowing what they work in us (vv. 3–5).
The demonstration of God’s love through Christ’s death for us (vv. 6–8).
Justification by His blood and salvation from wrath through Him (v. 9).
Reconciliation to God through the death of His Son (vv. 10–11).
Paul is showing us the blessings and assurance that flow from justification.
📖 Romans 5:12–21 — From Adam to Christ
In the second half of Romans 5, Paul begins contrasting Adam and Christ.
Through Adam, sin and death entered the world.
Through Jesus Christ, God’s grace and the gift of righteousness abound.
This contrast establishes the foundation for what Paul develops in Romans 6–8 concerning our identification with Christ and our walk in newness of life.
This is where we begin seeing the doctrinal progression from justification into sanctification.
The doctrines are connected, but they must be properly distinguished.
Justification concerns our righteous standing before God through Christ.
Sanctification concerns our being set apart in Christ and learning to walk in accordance with that identity.

🚨#BREAKING: Outrage is erupting in Jacksonville FL after a 77-YEAR-OLD man with a BROKEN ANKLE, walking with a CANE, was put in HANDCUFFS at his own warehouse...
...for leaving cat food out for 7 stray cats he's cared for for 16 YEARS since his ONLY SON passed away!!!
The charge? "Feeding raccoons."
Florida put a grieving 77-year-old father in HANDCUFFS over a bowl of cat food.
His name is Louis Abbruzze.
In 2010, Louis and his wife lost their only son, and not long after, a few stray cats started showing up around their warehouse.
They did everything right.
Trapped them.
Got them vaccinated.
Got them fixed.
Found homes for as many as they could.
But even with all of that work, seven cats stayed.
Every night for 16 YEARS, Louis has cracked the warehouse door so those cats can come in out of the weather, eat, and sleep.
"These cats are not just cats," Louis said. "They're my children."
"That's what kept my wife and I going. We found something that made us human again."
Then, about a year and a half ago, the property's HOA hired new management.
Suddenly the door had to stay shut.
Then, somebody called Florida Fish and Wildlife and said a tenant was feeding raccoons.
FWC officers came out and warned him and he was cited.
Louis says he did exactly what they told him: feed the cats, and pull the food if a raccoon shows up.
"I started doing exactly what the FWC said," he said.
AND IT GETS WORSE.
On September 15th, the officers came back.
Not with another citation. With HANDCUFFS.
"He says, 'Now turn around and put out your hands,'" Louis said.
"Cuffed me. Put my cuffs on right there. I can't walk. I've got a broken ankle. I'm walking with a cane."
They put a 77-year-old man with a cane in a car an hauled him off from his own property on a MISDEMEANOR.
He says he was treated "as a common criminal."
Meanwhile, in the same state, violent offenders walk out on no bond every single day.
But the old man with the cats? Cuffs.

K9 Bart sat outside for 36 hours with no water while the man who was supposed to feed him wasn't even home.
Madison County, Tennessee. Bart, a German Shepherd just over 2 years old, worked patrol, criminal apprehension, tracking, article searches, and narcotics. Sheriff Julian Wiser says his own handler left him unattended outside for approximately 36 hours with zero access to water while the heat index sat at 101 degrees.
A university vet program in Mississippi confirmed it: heat stroke from severe dehydration. Preventable. Wiser used that word himself.
The handler got administrative leave, then resigned before anyone could fire him. Now an internal affairs investigation and a criminal investigation are both running, with findings headed to outside authorities.
Thirty six hours. This dog worked apprehension, tracking, narcotics, everything asked of him, and the one thing his handler owed him back was a bowl of water and thirty seconds to check on him. He didn't get either.
A resignation isn't accountability. Charge him.

First-degree murder was dismissed straight out in the deal.

PATHETIC! The NFL just fined a cornerback for giving God the glory.
Arizona’s Kei’Trel Clark wrote “Glory be to God” on his eye black in Week 1. The league hit him with a $6,651 fine.
He posted the letter and said he still has to report to God on judgment day, so he will keep giving that glory out loud.
The @NFL should be ashamed of itself.
