NHS SPENT 11 MILLION POUNDS TRYING TO PROVE ONE CARDIOLOGIST WAS WRONG
Dr Raj Mattu flagged 5 patients crammed into 4 bed cardiac bays at Walsgrave Hospital in 2001. A 35 year old died because staff could not reach him in time.
He told @BBC. The trust suspended him, reportedly hired private investigators, and sent over 200 complaints about him to @gmcuk. All 200 were rejected.
At the 2016 remedy hearing the trust's barrister called him greedy for wanting the compensation he was already owed, then suggested he retrain as a school teacher on 30,000 pounds a year.
He won. Around 1.22 million pounds, up to 2.5 million once tax was added. The legal fight cost the trust over 11 million in public money.
Patients died. He spoke up. The system spent a decade trying to prove him wrong instead of fixing the ward.

🚨Poundland is a scandal. Here’s why:
People have attacked me for taking up this fight, saying ‘businesses go under all the time, that’s just the free market’. Sure, but this is *crony capitalism* and the 12,000 workers deserve better.
This is what’s really happening:
Poundland’s owners, an American outfit called Gordon Brothers are trying to put the business into administration. They bought it for £1 and have a £30m loan out to it, which they want back.
It’s a tough sector, suffering from fierce competition, battered by Labour’s tax increases and customers feeling the pinch. However, the business is solvent, sales grew 6.7% in the last year and 8.4% in the first three weeks of October. It’s about to see the best trading weeks of the year approaching Christmas. This is not a business that has to shut its doors.
What’s more, if Gordon Brothers want to walk away, there are others keen to take it on, as a going concern. I’ve spoken to two, highly credible parties today, who have attempted to buy the business. Both tell me they have the money. One, a hugely successful British retail entrepreneur, didn’t even get a response from Gordon Brothers. They would keep the stores intact and keep the positive momentum going.
I’ve been inundated with messages from staff and suppliers, all saying how hard they’ve worked in the past year to turn the business around.
Instead, Gordon Brothers are risking 12,000 jobs just before Christmas (and retail isn’t an easy industry to get another job in right now) and potentially another 10,000 amongst the suppliers. Poundland has a number of suppliers that only or largely supply them, and who will face an uncertain future without them.
Then there’s the loss to the landlords, the rates owed to local councils, tax due to HMRC and the lost footfall on our high streets if 600 stores shut.
The wage bill of Poundland is close to £500m, so you can imagine the cost to the taxpayer in benefits if 12,000 people lose their jobs.
Could it be that Gordon Brothers, far from being a real ‘turnaround specialist’ is just trying to look after themselves and make a profit at the expense of literally everyone else?
Might they be using the administration process to protect their loan?
And the advisors who handle administration will also pockets millions in fees. Naturally.
Could we see a decent business run down, shelves slowly emptied and then folded, with everyone losing out bar them? Thats what happened with another, similar business, Poundworld.
It’s not for nothing that loyal staff emailing me are calling them ‘Greedy Brothers’.
Should politicians be interested in this scandal? Too right they should. Frankly I’m shocked more aren’t. It shows how little Westminster cares about working people. You can be pro business, but anti crony capitalism. Reform UK is.
The Business Secretary needs to ask searching questions of Gordon Brothers and this administration process, before a 35 year old mainstay of our high streets and 12,000 jobs are destroyed by them.

Don't forget: the migrants entering this country illegally are living in hotels, paid for by the taxpayer.
Three meals a day. Here’s Footage showing buffets piled high with meat, desserts and fresh fruit.
Meanwhile hardworking Brits are scraping by, struggling to put food on the table. And our homeless veterans starve and freeze on the streets.
They are taking the literal piss out of us!
This should make your blood boil especially when so many go on to commit violent crimes.
It's time to put Brits first.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! 🇬🇧

Pumpkins:
Halloween is one night.
Tonight.
If you have to waste a food item (and I strongly suggest you don't), please put it out for that one night, then safely dispose of it.
Please DO NOT put it out for the wildlife.
Once you've handled it, cut it, left it out in the open, unrefrigerated, it will not be hygienic or safe for anyone to eat.
Pumpkins are a low-acid vegetable, so once they are cut and left at room temperature, pathogens will rapidly grow on the flesh, producing mould spores.
Our precious wildlife do not have any magical properties that protect them against food poisoning.
Additionally, this time of year there are baby hedgehogs around, born too late to find natural food, desperate to eat anything to stop the pain of starvation.
Pumpkin has a laxative affect so it would be particularly cruel to leave it out for starving wildlife to eat in desperation, causing them to lose precious fluids that may make the difference between life and death.
So no matter what you read elsewhere, please DO NOT put your discarded decoration out for the birds or any other wildlife.
Please DO NOT compost them either, as a composting pumpkin can produce highly toxic tremorgenic mycotoxins, which will be deadly if the compost bin is not properly secured and is accessible to wildlife (or pets).
Many hedgehogs, seeking the warmth of a compost bin, die this way every year.
Once you've used the pumpkin as decoration it's waste, fit only for the bin.
Please help get this vital message spread far and wide, to save precious lives and prevent suffering.

THEY RAPED MORE THAN 1,000 CHILDREN IN TELFORD. SOME WERE 11. LUCY LOWE WAS 14 WHEN SHE HAD A CHILD BY THE MAN WHO WAS ABUSING HER. SHE WAS 15 AND PREGNANT AGAIN WHEN HE SET FIRE TO HER HOME AND BURNED HER TO DEATH WITH HER MOTHER, HER SISTER AND HER UNBORN CHILD. AFTER HER MURDER THE MEN USED HER NAME TO KEEP THE OTHER GIRLS QUIET, TELLING THEM THEY WOULD BE NEXT IF THEY EVER SPOKE.
The police and the council knew what was being done to those girls and left them to it for another twenty years. When the truth finally came out, the Labour leader of the council wrote to the Home Secretary to stop an inquiry. The man who tried to stop it went on to become MP. He has now been promoted to Labour Government Whip.
In July 2022, Tom Crowther KC's independent inquiry concluded that an estimate of up to 1,000 children sexually exploited over three decades was reasonable, and recorded that those who knew the cases called that figure conservative.
The police, the council and the other agencies had the warning signs in front of them for years and did nothing with them. The girls were written off as prostitutes and blamed for what grown men did to them. Crowther found that nervousness about race had discouraged investigations. The girls had told him the men were Pakistani. He wrote their word down once, as their description, and then gave his own finding as men of "southern Asian heritage". The nervousness he found in the police and the council runs through his own report.
The police knew who the men were. The council knew which girls were being passed between them. Lucy Lowe's murder told the girls of Telford who were thinking of speaking exactly what it would cost them.
Then the council leader tried to stop anyone looking. On 22 September 2016, Shaun Davies, the Labour leader of Telford and Wrekin Council, wrote to the Home Secretary that "we do not feel at this time that a further inquiry is necessary". For two years the council found reasons to say no.
Lucy Allan, Telford's MP at the time, listed them in the Commons. The national inquiry would cover Telford. An inquiry would cost too much. Ofsted had given the council a good report. There was nothing to see. Only after sustained pressure from survivors and campaigners did Telford commission Crowther's investigation.
THE INQUIRY TELFORD GOT HAD NO POWER TO COMPEL A SINGLE WITNESS. THE DETECTIVE WHO RAN THE LUCY LOWE CASE AND THE COUNCIL'S CHIEF EXECUTIVE STAYED AWAY FROM IT.
The survivors asked for a statutory inquiry with the power to summon witnesses. Davies gave them one without it. Crowther took evidence from 170 witnesses.
- Eleven people refused to give evidence, provided very limited evidence, or refused permission for their contact details to be passed to Crowther's inquiry.
- Another 20 people could not be interviewed. Seven could not be located despite repeated attempts. Another 13 had known contact details but failed to respond despite repeated attempts.
- Victor Brownlees, chief executive of Telford & Wrekin Council from 2009 to 2011 and formerly acting director of children's services, declined to meet the inquiry. He submitted a very brief statement by email and said he had retained no council documents after leaving.
- Clive Harding, a West Mercia Police Detective Chief Inspector who led the Lucy Lowe triple murder investigation, declined to speak to the inquiry. He argued that the original investigation records contained everything relevant. Crowther wrote to him again, but Harding did not reply.
- Geoff Harding, a retired West Mercia Police Detective Chief Inspector who subsequently worked for Telford & Wrekin Council as an Integrated Services Manager supporting children and families, declined to meet the inquiry. He submitted a very short written summary through West Mercia Police. Crowther described his inability to recall relevant child sexual exploitation cases as remarkable.
- Shropshire Council, whose predecessor had responsibility for children's social services in Telford until 1998, provided responses Crowther described as potentially combative. A request for historical taxi licensing information remained partially outstanding when he published his report, although Crowther did not believe the council had deliberately withheld documents.
Crowther said the four witnesses he named for staying away did not materially affect his conclusions. I do not accept that. Davies himself admitted to Parliament on 21 January 2025 that people the inquiry wanted to talk to did not come forward.
An inquiry that 31 people could refuse, dodge or vanish from, that a former chief executive could answer by email, and that a neighbouring council could stonewall was the inquiry Shaun Davies chose for Telford's children.
AND TELFORD TODAY.
In July 2024, Shaun Davies became Telford's Labour MP. In May 2026, he was appointed Assistant Government Whip. On 22 July 2026, he was promoted to Government Whip, formally Junior Lord of the Treasury. The man who argued against a further inquiry into the rape of Telford's children enforces discipline among Labour MPs.
Anne Longfield chairs a statutory inquiry with the power to compel the witnesses Crowther could not. Telford is not on her list. On 17 July 2025 the council's Labour leader, Lee Carter, passed a motion that welcomed any role the inquiry might give Telford and wrote to the Home Secretary to say so. He did not demand a local investigation. Neither has Shaun Davies.
If Longfield has any desire to expose the cover up, she must name Telford herself. Maybe I can help her.
Last night, I drove to Telford to meet with a whistleblower. What I know now will destroy the council. It will also expose the Labour Party's part in the rape gang cover up in a way nothing before it has. When it is published, Longfield will have to name Telford. It is my intention to publish this weekend.

You know what we are up against. The mainstream media will not touch my work. Institutions I investigate do not volunteer their records. Politicians do not suddenly decide to hold themselves to account.
And yet, despite every attempt to stop us, we forced the national inquiry. We did that because enough ordinary people refused to go away.
But getting the inquiry was never the end of this campaign. In many ways it was only the beginning. Now we have to watch where it goes, what it investigates, which places it avoids, which witnesses it calls, which records it obtains and whether the same institutions that failed these children are allowed to control the story again.
Nobody else is going to do that work for us. And I cannot do it indefinitely working on my own. That is why I keep talking about 50,000 committed subscribers.
It is not a vanity number. I did not pluck it out of the air. With fifty thousand people with me means when we uncover something important, it does not depend on a newspaper editor, a television producer or an algorithm deciding whether you are allowed to see it.
It gives us reach they cannot easily shut down.
But there is another reason. I need to build a proper backroom operation around this work. At the moment I am investigating, researching, writing, publishing, producing the videos, running the newsletter, dealing with the technology and then starting again. It is unsustainable.
I need people behind me who can take care of the technical and production work so that I can spend my time doing the thing I do best. That is why we have been pushing so hard for new paid subscribers.

We forced the inquiry. Now we need the numbers to make sure they cannot control what happens next. Unfortunately, we are reaching the end of the road where I can continue working this way.
The paid subscriptions have stalled. The audience is growing, but the number of people actually standing behind the work is not growing with it. Over a million people engaged in my content this week. Only a small fraction followed up with a subscription to my newsletter This is becoming impossible to sustain.

Reform on Durham's planning committee has REJECTED an HMO in Annfield Plain. Even the police raised concerns about it.
Our patch has had enough.
The Lib Dem leader's response? "Try being Durham City."
Aye, Durham City has loads of HMOs. It's got a world-class university and skint students clubbing together for rent. That's not the same as five strangers being dumped next door to a pensioner in a pit village.
The Lib Dems aren't happy unless they're virtue signalling. They're doing it off the backs of decent people who never asked for their communities to be transformed.
We stand with you. Always. 🇬🇧

In 2018, I exposed the family courts alongside The Times chief investigative reporter Andrew Norfolk. Speaking out came with enormous risks and could have resulted in me being imprisoned. I spoke out because of what they tried to do to me and my son, but also because of what they were doing to other families across the country.
Local authorities were inviting rapists into the lives of children. The courts were also allowing rapists to apply for contact and custody of children conceived through the rape of their mothers. Imagine the trauma of knowing that the man who raped you could be granted access to your child.
I immediately launched a campaign to change the law, calling for rapists to be stripped of parental responsibility, including the ability to seek contact or custody of children conceived through rape.
My campaign was successful, and the law has since changed. However, the current legislation does not protect every child or every family, including grandchildren affected by these circumstances.
The government must close the loopholes and ensure that every child is protected. No child should be left vulnerable to the man who raped their mother.
I will continue working with Victims’ Commissioner Claire Waxman to push for further legal changes and ensure that ALL children receive the protection they deserve.

The judge who let a “bright” 14-year-old boy walk free after he stabbed a girl who spurned him has a track record of handing out lenient sentences to criminals, The Telegraph can reveal.
One of Judge Ian Lawrie’s previous sentences was described by appeal judges as “entirely wrong”, with two overturned in favour of sterner punishments.
This week, The Telegraph revealed that the judge had handed a community order to the schoolboy, who launched a frenzied attack on the teenage girl. Police said she was lucky to survive.

EXCLUSIVE: MIGRANT BOAT LAUNCHES FROM BELGIUM AS AUTHORITIES STAND AND WATCH
29th October 2026 | Belgian-French border | Approx. 3:00 AM local time
What I believe could be the first ever footage of an illegal migrant boat launching from a Belgian beach, just across the border from France.
But the real story isn’t the boat.
It’s the Belgian authorities standing there watching it happen.
No visible intervention. No attempt to stop the launch.
Different country. Same scenes I’ve witnessed repeatedly in France.
Two countries, one border, and the same question: what exactly are the authorities doing to stop these boats?

"Who is bankrolling Nigel Farage's party?" asks Bridget Phillipson. "Labour will protect our democracy from foreign influence."
Right. Same question back.
Who is bankrolling Labour, and the machine around it?
Gary Lubner. South African. Former Autoglass chief. Millions.
Lord Alli. Buys the clothes, lends the flat.
George Soros. Money into Best for Britain and Fair Vote, routed through a London outpost, which is how a foreign fortune gets round a ban on foreign donations.
Pierre Omidyar. French-Iranian, eBay founder, funding the campaign groups.
Bill Gates. In for the photo call.
Swedish philanthropists. Bloomberg.
And Verbatim, which made the Channel 4 sting she is riding, is itself funded from abroad. So the watchdog on foreign money is on foreign money.
And those are off the top of my head. No research. Give me an afternoon and the list fills a page.
So the party promising to protect democracy from foreign influence is up to its neck in it, legally, through the same door, and has proposed no cap that would inconvenience a single person in the room. They held a drinks party for them in Downing Street.
The question is not who is bankrolling Farage. It is why Labour thinks the answer changes depending on whose name is on the cheque.
"Protect our democracy from foreign influence." They would not know where to start.
Who is bankrolling Nigel Farage's party?
What interests are they seeking to advance?
Are they acting in Britain's best interests?
Reform UK are engulfed in sleaze and scandal. Labour will protect our democracy from foreign influence.

🚨THIS IS JUDGE MAGGIE SCOTT
She let child rapist Daniel Cieslak — who pleaded GUILTY to raping a 12-YEAR-OLD girl — WALK FREE from her courtroom with an ABSOLUTE DISCHARGE. No jail. No real punishment. She said there was “no public interest” in punishing him because he thought the girl looked older and “willingly participated.”
But wait — it gets worse.
This same judge previously sparked outrage by praising Algerian rapist Hamadache Hamza while sentencing him. Hamza brutally raped a woman over an entire weekend. Yet Lady Scott gave him “credit” for overcoming his “very difficult background” in Algeria to settle in Britain and open a hairdressing business.
This is what happens when judges care more about a predator’s “background” and “success” than protecting innocent children and women.
Judges like this are why victims are re-traumatized and criminals laugh. We need real justice — tough judges who put victims first and predators behind bars where they belong.
What do you think should happen to judges who show this kind of leniency?

A message to the North East, a region that means so very much to me, but it matters to each of you with these new almighty mayors too.
This is Kim McGuinness. The Labour Mayor who sat in a room with the Prime Minister and a table full of elected mayors last week and complained that your councils were getting in her way.
Her words: "They could stop me from doing it. And I don't think that's right, either on this or other things."
This was never just about a tourist tax. It's about who gets to decide what happens in your town.
I'm a County Durham lad. My grandad, and generations of my family before him, went down the pits here. My mam and dad met working in the factories of Stanley. I was brought up to believe that power belongs as close as possible to the people it affects. In your street. In your village. With the councillors you can stop in Tesco and give a piece of your mind.
So let me walk you through what's happened.
In 2024, Kim McGuinness stood for mayor promising a £1 a night charge on hotel rooms. A quid. A "small charge," she called it.
Now she wants a levy of up to 5% on every booking. On a £150 hotel room, that's £7.50 a night. Every hotel, B&B, guest house and holiday let in the region. That isn't the small charge she put in her manifesto. It's a massive escalation she never asked you about.
Then something happened she didn't plan for. You voted.
After she was elected, the people of Durham, Sunderland, Gateshead and South Tyneside put Reform in charge of their councils. Those are mandates every bit as real as hers, and more recent. In September, the four of us wrote to her asking her to rule this tax out. Northumberland's Conservatives oppose it too. That's five of the seven council leaders on her own cabinet, from two different parties.
So what was the first thing she did?
She didn't come back to us. She didn't try to change our minds. She went straight to the Prime Minister, in front of mayors from across the country, and asked for the power to overrule the councils you elected.
Let's be clear about what that means.
Devolution was supposed to take power out of Westminster and hand it back to communities. What Kim McGuinness wants is to take power out of Westminster and park it on one desk in Newcastle. Hers.
That isn't devolution. It's centralisation with a regional postcode. It reduces your local councils to powerless chambers with a car park.
She was asked to pick between the councils you elect to serve your community and more power for herself. She picked herself.
And she told the PM it wasn't just about this. "Other things," she said. So ask yourself what comes next. If your council can't stop her taxing visitors, can it stop a thousand homes going up on the edge of your village? A solar farm across good farmland? Turbines on your skyline? She wants the answer to be no.
Follow the money too. In that same meeting, which project did she talk up? Newcastle. She didn't name a single Durham town. Durham's guest houses collect it. Tyneside spends it.
Her reply to me in the Chronicle was 200 words on why her tax is wonderful. There wasn't a single word denying she'd asked the Prime Minister to overrule the leaders you elected.
Not one.
I don't think that's right. I don't think any of you voted for that. And I'm not going to sit quietly whilst it happens either.
#ThankYouSirKev @BBC1 Thoroughly enjoyed it. A great tribute to Sir Kevin Sinfield. Praised to the high heavens & deservedly so by everyone from the Prince of Wales to the people he's helped during his campaign to raise awareness of MND.
