I’m a bit sad. 😢 And I need to talk about it somewhere anonymous where the people who caused this sadness can’t find out about it. Last week I turned 50. For the last 25 years or so I never celebrated my birthday anymore because several other familymembers have their birthdays in the same week as mine. I always figured they deserved to celebrate it too. So everytime I’d let my birthday pass like any other normal day of the year. But this time I really wanted to celebrate it. After losing some important people in life last year I figured turning 50 was something to really celebrate!!! I picked a date well beyond that week that’s already filled with a lot of other birthdays. I also made sure all invited guests knew that this birthday was something special and I love for them to be there celebrating this with me. I invited my guests well in advance and luckely everybody reacted enthousiastic. I felt great about it and I was looking forward to this special party. I also made sure everybody understands that I don’t want any gifts or anything. It’s not about that! It’s about just showing up and having a good time together! Now as this festive day is coming closer one by one they all excuse themselves. Always with a good reason. And ofcourse I react very understanding to these messages. But… Deep inside I’m starting to feel very lonely now. In 25 years I never made my birthday a big thing. I always made sure my other familymembers had their moments when their birthdays came up. And it was all okay for me. But this time I was really hoping to make this special day for me. Just to have a good time and see everybody laugh and have fun together at my house. But it seems this won’t be happening because there won’t be any guests left to share this birthday with. So….here I am….crying a bit and sharing my thoughts and feelings on twitter of all places…🥺🙄 Oh well…I guess I’ll just cancel the last guests who havent had the chance to cancel on me yet and then just let this be. 😣
