ENGINEERING STUDENTS, TAKE NOTE! π¨π¨π½βπ»
Lessons From My Experience in Engineering Design Reviews. βοΈ
One interesting thing about my role as a CS Competence engineer is that I get to review designs proposed by other engineers, challenge their technical decisions, identify potential risks, and collaborate with them to develop solutions that deliver the best value to our customers.
One of my favourite experiences is sitting in a design review meeting with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, mechatronics engineers, and sometimes even optical and alignment engineers.
And then thereβs me, bringing the bigger picture from the field and representing the customerβs perspective. π
Now, hereβs where it gets interesting!
You get to learn A LOT from these experts as they discuss the technical risks, challenges, and limitations of a proposed design from their respective disciplines.
But the most fascinating part?
The engineer responsible for the design is often in the HOT SEAT! ππ₯
Imagine presenting a design youβve spent months developing, only to face a room full of experts asking tough technical questions!
You must be able to defend your design decisions, justify your engineering assumptions, explain the risks, and demonstrate why your proposed solution is the best option.
And trust me, these experts KNOW their fields! π
The beauty of it all is that the objective isnβt to embarrass anyone. Itβs to challenge assumptions, identify weaknesses, improve reliability, and ultimately deliver better engineering solutions.
Every meeting is an opportunity to learn something new, even outside your own engineering discipline.
MY ADVICE TO ENGINEERING STUDENTS: π
Donβt just study to pass examinations or graduate with a certificate.
Study to UNDERSTAND your field.
Build strong technical fundamentals. Develop your analytical and problem-solving skills. Learn to question assumptions and defend your technical decisions with evidence.
Because one day, you might find yourself sitting in a room full of brilliant engineers, defending a design that could cost millions of dollars to implement.
At that moment, your certificate wonβt answer the technical questions for you. YOUR KNOWLEDGE WILL! π―
Be VERY GOOD at what you do! π

From the PCB to the Enclosure!
A closer look at the final build of our RFID Product Scanner. This is where the electronics and mechanical design come together to form a complete device. More to come from this build at

It's been over 2 months yet little update. yeah!
well, we began system design of our robot vacuum cleaner on MATLAB.
The task?: to measure and control the linear velocity of our robot from the Input voltage ( Vin)
The first window is the closed loop speed response

lots of bugs </>, tight deadline but was all fun learning and building ππ οΈ
so guys!!!!!
Kdroid is done (at least for a demo ) - after 8 weeks + of building π οΈβοΈπ€
I touched grass and built physical AI with @cyberwave_com
For small holder farmers, agriculture can be better with physical AI infrastructure.

just go through the comments. the man has history.
Investment in men, it echoes through time
My first ever encounter with this man called Peter Obi was at 8:43am. I was late to school, and as i stood outside the gate waiting for the Labour prefect to bring brooms and show us where we to sweep, i saw this man casually walk into the school premises and ask me to take him to where our senior prefect was π
. He only came to the school cos he wanted to confirm by himself if the computers that was approved by the education board was actually sent to our school.
He didn't even come to see our principal who saw him from his office and rushed to greet him. Obi smiled, greeted and waved at him while still following our senior prefect to the computer room and checking it to be sure it worked properly.
After that, he went class by class, asking us what we needed. He didn't even come with an entourage or anything. Just him.
I don't think you understand how crazy it is to have the governor of your state casually walking into your school without any escort and assessing what needs to be done himself.
The next day, they brought us new ceiling fans and brand new chairs...
He set the bar so high in governance that if you tell random Nigerians that you could casually text your governor your problems or tune into ABS radio on a Tuesday evening to call in to his show and that your area would be immediately attended to or he'd explain to you why it hasn't yet been attended to.
Looking back, i think i understand better now why we Anambrarians didn't even say much online about Peter Obi, and that is because we were living so well and so fine we didn't even want outsiders to know how well we were enjoying π
. That's the only plausible explanation i can give.
We didn't give this man enough PR, although it is not entirely our fault cos he loved to live a low-key lifestyle, but at the same time... we had our mouths filled with enjoyment.
If you knew how bad things were from the Mbadinuju era, you'd understand that Obi did so well we couldn't even believe our luck. I guess we felt that if we publicly praised him too much, it might get into his head and he'd probably stop doing all these good things for us because it was too good to be true. But here we are, trading words online with people wey we no even suppose dey talk to at all π
I finally got the buck converter working ( 12v to 7v DC )
although some components (blocks) used her are ideal, for sake of simulation - it works just fine.
Simulink is actually a nice fit for model development and testing before deployment.
2nd frame is the response
It works pretty well on MATLAB
still need a few tweaks.
Quick question: do people actually still build with MATLAB?
one time, I tried understanding a filtering circuit using Claude. it did poorly, I read twice before I spotted an error.
I doubt If one could βvibe electronicsβ . I may be wrong
1st paper was beautiful
this one, honestly speaking, this would have really been a nice course for me. I literally didn't have much grasp of what was taught.
but we gotta make the best outta it. we go again
in my opinion, artificial intelligence isn't the best technology out there - at least what we see.
how giant aircrafts fly will still blow me away. military grade tech, ships, submarine, RF, satellites, unbelievable structural works still fascinates me to this day.
learning SWE from scratch again,
> Unit testing, integration, system OOD . feels good.
understanding system-level software design is the real deal I guess?
I'm finding it hard converting 12v to 7v . the duty cycle is intact. Component values are okay. But I can't figure out why the Vout is steady 11.1v instead of 7v
will appreciate any help
