ASELSAN’s new UUV, DERİNGÖZ, is equipped with Kraken Synthetic Aperture Sonar, providing high-resolution seabed mapping for mine countermeasures (MCM) and maritime security operations.
Kraken personnel recently spent several days in Türkiye with ASELSAN staff on the operation of Kraken SAS.
Kraken SAS delivers consistent 3 cm x 3 cm resolution imagery across swaths of up to 200 meters per side. Its modular array configurations support integration across multiple UUV sizes, with variants depth-rated to 300, 1000, or 6000 meters.
With its wide-area coverage and consistent resolution, Kraken SAS reduces the need for overlapping survey passes while increasing confidence in target detection and classification. This can shorten mission duration by over 60% compared with traditional sidescan sonar.

Kraken Robotics, through Sonardyne, offers a range of acoustic and optical communication technologies supporting subsea data transfer, telemetry, monitoring, and autonomous operations across different applications. Reliable underwater communications are essential for transferring data, supporting remote operations, and connecting subsea systems where traditional wireless technologies cannot operate.
𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺
BlueComm uses light instead of sound to move large volumes of data wirelessly at 2.5–10 Mbps over distances of up to 150 m. It keeps working even with vehicle lights on, which makes it a strong fit for AUV, ROV, USV and seabed node operations that need to offload video or data quickly. This high-speed optical communication capability can help reduce the time required to transfer large datasets, supporting applications where rapid data retrieval is important. Learn more: ow.ly/Le1V50ZSUAx
𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗺 𝟲
For longer-range links, Modem 6 provides reliable acoustic data transfer at up to 9,000 bps from instruments such as ADCPs, CTDs and data loggers. It is built on Sonardyne's field-proven 6G and Wideband 2 platforms and can be deployed anywhere from the seabed to buoys, vessels and uncrewed surface vehicles. Its acoustic communication capabilities allow subsea instruments and platforms to exchange data and status information over greater distances, making it well suited to distributed underwater monitoring and autonomous operations. Learn more: ow.ly/yjCU50ZSUAu
Together, optical and acoustic communication technologies provide complementary solutions for subsea connectivity. From rapidly transferring large datasets over shorter distances to maintaining reliable communications across longer underwater links.

Kraken Robotics’ Sub-Bottom Imager (SBI) has been deployed across offshore wind developments in Europe, Asia, and North America providing reliable cable detection and 3D acoustic imaging of buried infrastructure across a wide range of seabed conditions.
In Taiwan alone, Kraken has supported surveys across seven of the country’s eight offshore wind farms, from its earliest offshore wind projects through to current developments. Across projects in the region, SBI has achieved cable detection rates of more than 95%.
Imaging buried cables is a difficult technical challenge. Sediment type, burial depth, cable construction, and seabed complexity can all affect acoustic performance. SBI has been purpose-built and continually refined for this application, drawing on years of operational experience across commercial offshore projects.
For route verification, cable depth of burial, and remedial assessment, that experience matters. SBI provides operators with dependable 3D sub-bottom data from the first survey, helping reduce uncertainty and the risk of additional survey work.

Kraken Robotics understands that in naval operations, small details revealed through high-resolution subsea imaging can change the interpretation of an entire mission area.
Rope, cables, tyres, ladders, anchors, small debris, and mine-like objects can all present differently on the seabed. At lower resolution, these objects may be harder to distinguish from true threats, increasing the risk of missed contacts or unnecessary follow-up investigations.
Kraken SAS delivers high and ultra-high-resolution seabed imagery that helps operators detect, assess, and determine subsea objects with greater confidence. For mine countermeasures, maritime security, and critical underwater infrastructure surveys, that confidence supports faster decisions and a clearer understanding of what is on the seabed.

Kraken Robotics’ subsea LiDAR provides operators with an accurate and repeatable way to monitor the long-term movement of critical subsea infrastructure.
Flowlines and jumpers can gradually move over time due to thermal expansion, seabed interaction, and operational loading. Monitoring that movement helps engineers understand asset behaviour, assess long-term trends, and support informed asset integrity decisions.
The video below overlays high-resolution subsea LiDAR datasets acquired in 2016, 2019, and 2024 at approximately 1,500 metres water depth, revealing measurable infrastructure movement over time. The repeat surveys are conducted without any physical contact to the structures/jumpers and provide engineering-grade 3D data in half the time compared to other methods.
