New: Trump officials are bracing for personnel shakeups across the admin if the midterms go poorly, spurring a wave of preemptive maneuvering and finger-pointing that aides and allies described as creating an increasingly toxic situation w @KristenhCNN: cnn.com/2026/10/20/politics/…

On a potential trilateral with Putin and Xi, President Trump tells me he “would do it” and adds “not so much for Ukraine because Russia, frankly, has been fine on Ukraine, they haven't been doing much, and the same thing with China. We would have it to talk about nuclear weapons and denuclearization…we would schedule a meeting based on the denuclearization, and that's a very positive thing for the world.”

"Melania works so hard, you wouldn't believe it, and she's accomplished so much in a very short period of time. So I think everybody here very much appreciates the job you do. You don't need to do it, but you do. Thank you," Trump says after Melania, taking the podium.
First Lady Melania Trump speaks before President Trump signs an executive order aimed at changing how the federal government approaches women’s health, creating two entities to direct research into health issues that disproportionately affect women:

During Trump’s visit to Alaska Zacharia told WH officials she planned an interview for the president w/ a Fox News reporter following rally…she was quickly warned he didn’t like to do anything after his events, having just performed for hours. Zacharia insisted it was wise. After Trump got off stage, was ready to depart, Zacharia told him of plan. He grew visibly irritated, said he wasn’t going to do it. Ultimately, he relented, but the episode was indicative to those around him that Zacharia did not yet understand the man she now worked for. cnn.com/2026/10/16/politics/…

When you’re in, you’re in. When you’re out… you’re fired on live tv.
Trump earlier this year: Kimberly Guilfoyle has been my friend for a long time. I love calling her Kimberlay. That’s my little pet name, right? But you are the greatest and I heard they love you over there. And I hope you come back here in 12 years or whenever the term ends. Trump today: She was not a member of my family. I guess she dated my son a long time ago.

SCOOP: Kalshi has launched an investigation into a series of suspicious trades on their platform on President Trump's selection of Katie Zacharia to be his next White House press secretary. Zacharia was at about a 1% odds favorite to becoming press secretary prior to today's developments but at least three traders placed "yes" bets on her getting the job prior to any news of Trump selecting her. Following Trump's announcement that he got Putin to agree to supply diesel to the global marketplace and that Treasury is lifting sanctions on Russian diesel transactions, Zelenskyy says "Russia will 'repay' the diesel with further terror and perfidy." He calls it a "weak" move.
Peace never comes through weakness. Today, representatives of the U.S. Congress were in Kyiv – a bipartisan delegation – and I am grateful to them for visiting Ukraine at such a difficult time. They asked: what is needed to end the war? The answer must be strong. There must be sanctions under the Lindsey Graham bill, there must be support for Ukraine in protecting lives, and there must be pressure on Russia for its war. And today, there was a conversation between the leaders of America and Russia. A conversation that leads to something different. Recently, there was a European decision to lift sanctions on Russian oligarchs. Since then, Russian strikes and the torment of people have only increased. This past week alone, there was a brutal Russian missile strike on a residential building in Pryluky, aerial bombs were dropped on Kramatorsk – on ordinary city buses – and there have been constant attacks on Kyiv’s energy infrastructure and on the life-sustaining infrastructure in Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, and our other cities. Dozens of people have been killed and hundreds wounded. The Russians are compensating for their inability to achieve their objectives on the battlefield with this kind of terror. This year, Russia is weaker on the battlefield than at any other point in the war. That is why Putin is relying on terror. That is why he is relying on attempts to strike backroom deals to secure some form of pressure relief for Russia, in order to buy more time and more opportunities for war. Any easing of sanctions against Russia without a clear and lasting de-escalation agreement with Russia is an obvious weakness. It plays into Russia’s hands – allowing it to kill more, wage war for longer, have even less respect for America, and inflict even greater losses and damage on the world. Ukraine is ready to take symmetrical de-escalatory steps, and the American team knows our position. Our strikes on Russian oil refineries and other oil facilities are a response to Russia’s years-long campaign of terror against Ukraine’s energy sector. Ukraine will not set Russian oil refineries on fire if Russia does not destroy our energy infrastructure. This is the kind of agreement we are proposing to America, and we believe the United States has enough power to achieve such a compromise. Gifts to Putin will not bring peace or any benefit to the civilized world. Russia will “repay” the diesel with further terror and perfidy. Allowing Russia to sell petroleum products is an investment in a war that must be ended, not prolonged. What is needed is real de-escalation with Russia on a reciprocal basis. We count on America’s fair support for our defense of life, for our defense of people in Ukraine – and on the United States having a correspondingly strong conversation with Russia. A strong one, not a weak one.
