NIU back to the MAC?

Can't believe the NEC is just now doing that stuff. Why not wait until December? – at Brooklyn, OH

Of note, given that CSU plays both Mercyhurst and Chicago State this year. The Lakers are always trap material, they gave both YSU and RMU extremely tough games last year.

Chris Kielsmeier once said to me that there's no place like your undergraduate alma mater. I'm not entirely sure how he meant that, but that place has been right in the middle for an awful lot of my life, mostly good and occasionally bad. – at Brooklyn, OH

.@CSU_WTennis closed the Viking Invitational with six singles wins today, including by Anna McKnight, Jenna Redmile, Leah Geisz, Sofia Sergieva, and Laura Tapia. Mel Petkova wrapped things up with a 6-1, 6-2 result against Mercyhurst's Ellyana Jacobs. csuvikings.com/news/2026/10/… – at Cleveland, OH

Laura Tapia and Anna McKnight (near side, with Tapia doing all of the hitting) had to come from behind in their final doubles match of the day, but they edged out Mercyhurst's Daria Rogova and Variance Horn-Bourgue, 7-5. CSU really does have a great team here, it appears.

Day 2 of the Viking Invitational is underway at the MMTP with doubles, and CSU's Anna McKnight and Laura Tapia just beat YSU 6-2. That takes some doing. You might remember that they made a surprise run to the final to the doubles bracket at the HL Individual Championships. – at Cleveland, OH

I really gotta know who runs that team's Instagram, they never use a song newer than like 1990 on their posts. That one had Lynyrd Skynyrd. – at Brooklyn, OH

Seems bad! – at Brooklyn, OH

They should just send me the Pulitzer now for managing to fit Annika Corcoran's career into 1600 words. In all seriousness though, it was great to learn a little of her story - I'd wanted to ask why she went back to UDM for three years.

The full singles results from today. One to note on here? Laura Tapia's round one win, as Hanna Telzynska is YSU's top singles player (and subsequently showed it against Anna Mancino). – at Cleveland, OH

Travis going to be there too, or no?

Jenna Redmile (in black) has little issue with Mercyhurst's Celeste Davis, 6-1, 6-1. – at Cleveland, OH

I missed most of today's singles action, that'll happen when they start at 10:00 on a Friday. Regardless, Jenna Redmile and Sofia Sergieva are off to good starts against Mercyhurst opponents, so the Vikings might close things out very well. – at Cleveland, OH

Cleveland State's Leah Geisz just grabbed a really nice singles win on the first day of this weekend's Viking Invitational, beating Youngstown State's Yeseniia Ovcharova 6-4, 6-2. – at Cleveland, OH
