Oh well, let's try this Twitter thing once again ^^ Let's start with a little artwork of my dragon, done by @sifyro a while ago x3 If you want to see more artwork of my dragon, check it out here: furaffinity.net/user/lolxd17…
I finally got all my new golf clubs and my new bag :D New set is now complete, 16 new clubs, so 14 in my bag and two swaps. So looking forward to play some courses with them next year. But now winter is coming, so it’s indoor training time ~
Well, this is it ~
I finished my last Offenburg - Strasbourg service with the old diesel trains. Parked them for the very last time. Now I have two days off and Sunday I’ll do my next Strasbourg service, but then with the Régiolis. By then the RS 1 will be gone, they will be in use for two more days and then they go out of service after 28 years of service, way longer than they were supposed to be in service.
It still hurts a bit, I liked driving them and I have been driving them for 11 years, they were part of my daily routine, I was driving these trains the most in my whole career and now they’ll be gone ^^ Unfortunately they were not designed or made for what they have been used for in the end. They just couldn’t provide the standards and needs that are required today and often especially not the capacity needed on the route they were used on in the end. Of course passengers will celebrate once they’re finally gone and of course I’m also very happy that we finally get more modern trains with more capacity on this route. But I will still miss the RS 1, it’s been so many good and crazy memories with these trains in the past 11 years and they rarely let me down, these trains were actually very reliable and rarely failed, issues were usually easy to fix and they were super simple built and easy to operate.
So yeah, so long RS 1, whatever future awaits you and although you’re still in use for two more days: I will say goodbye and I salute you 🫡 Thanks for 28 years of service which I was able to be part of for 11 years.
Greetings from sunny Strasbourg ~ After having two days off I’m driving on this route again today. And yes, it is officially confirmed and it’s been in the media: this is officially the last week of these old tiny diesel trains on this route. Their service will end by the end of Saturday this week, after 28 years of service. Starting with Sunday we will also finally drive all our services with the Régiolis trains. So this here today is my second to last service with the old trains. Tomorrow I’ll do a German service and Thursday will be my last Strasbourg service with these trains. Sunday I’ll then do a Strasbourg service with the Régiolis, too and then I have a week off xD
And I just started with my last Offenburg - Strasbourg service for this week. Busy Friday, my first train from Offenburg to Strasbourg was completely overcrowded again. Had to leave behind:
- 3 cyclists in Offenburg
- 2 cyclists and 4 people in Appenweier
I had a short talk with one of our bosses today, asking if it’s now 100 % sure that we finally get the Régiolis on December 13th and he only looked at me surprised and said:
“Why December 13th? It’s 100 % sure we get them on November 1st! Next month, from the beginning, the old diesel trains are gone.”
Oh well, sounds good, doesn’t it? Hopefully not too good to be true. 🤞🏻If that is true this are the last 8 days of tiny old diesel trains operations.
No post from me for a while? That was because I was sick the whole last week. But since today I’m back at work and fine again :) Doing a German service today.
And I got news regarding the Régiolis: the November 1st start for us is also canceled and not happening, we'll also go with the old tiny diesel all of November and the first weeks in December… The new date for the start for us is now the big schedule change on December 13th…
I have no idea how they want to handle the first weekends with the Christmas market in Strasbourg and honestly: I also don’t care, because guess who will be on vacation from once the Christmas market in Strasbourg starts until the big schedule change is over… And who also has the fourth weekend off: Me ~
Phew, just completed my first round of Offenburg - Strasbourg on this slightly rainy Sunday. It’s a bit „less worse“ than yesterday. First train from Strasbourg to Offenburg of course completely overcrowded again, I left behind:
- Around 10 people in Kehl
- 2 cyclists and 4 people in Kork
Just finished my first round of Offenburg - Strasbourg on this mild and sunny Saturday. My first train from Offenburg to Strasbourg was quite full, but not overcrowded, didn’t leave anyone behind. But my first train from Strasbourg back to Offenburg which I just had, phew… Completely overcrowded in Strasbourg already… I left behind:
- About 10 people in Strasbourg
- About 20 people in Kehl
- 1 cyclists in Legelshurst
But now it should calm down for my upcoming trains ~
And I’m back on the Offenburg - Strasbourg line after one week of doing German services only and being sick for one day. Of course still with the old tiny diesel.
Busy Friday, people traveling into the weekend. My first train from Offenburg to Strasbourg was of course completely overcrowded again, I had to leave 4 people and 2 cyclists behind in Appenweier. But all other trains yet very only quite busy, not overcrowded though. Let’s see how the weekend will go ~
Started with some golf training at home today, since I’m a bit sick and should stay at home, then I thought I could make this whole thing a bit more „pawsome“ 😅🐾 ( No, I don’t wear them when actually playing or training on a course xD )
Greetings from sunny Strasbourg ~
It’s been one week since I was driving this line the last time, but today and the following two days I’m on it again. Of course still with the old stinky and tiny diesel trains. My first train from Offenburg to Strasbourg was full to the brim again, in Offenburg I had to ask people again to step out and aside so that I could even board and get into my cab. But it worked and to my surprise I didn’t leave anyone behind. At all stations people, also with bicycles, squeezed in somehow… It’s insane how much these tiny trains can actually fit. Hot as hell inside though again with these temperatures outside 🥵
For the upcoming weekend we get one Régiolis again because of the upcoming national holiday in Germany. But only for the weekend, then they take it back to SNCF. None of my business though, I have the upcoming weekend off.
The full Régiolis start in October as they announced and which was apparently signed is not happening, surprise… New „official“ starting date for us is now November 1st 🤞🏻 ( They didn’t specify which year though )
Good evening from Bad Griesbach! It’s been almost two months since I’ve been here, the route was closed for one and a half months for track renewal and renovation and various other works along the tracks. First time for me driving here since it’s open again ~
Phew, what a chaos again today ^^ I was bringing the 16:35 train to Strasbourg from the depot to the platform. At 16:35 the signal was still red, at 16:38 it was still red, so I called the signalman, asking what the problem is, I have to depart!
Then he says: „Oh, did nobody tell you? Something happened in France, so Kehl told us to hold you in Offenburg.“
He couldn’t tell me what exactly happened though, so I asked if I could at least drive until Kehl. That was also denied though, since all platforms there were occupied.
So I informed my passengers about the situation and that we have to wait and called my dispatch to ask what’s going on, they didn’t know anything about all that 🙄 Then a few minutes later dispatch called me and said it’s a incident involving persons on the tracks, it’s gonna take longer, he wants me to ask all passengers to leave and to shunt the train back into the depot, he’ll cancel my train…
So I asked all passengers to leave, of course the joy was big amongst them and as everyone was out I was shunting into the depot. Then in the depot I get a call from the signalman and my dispatch at the same time: „The route just opened again, incident has been resolved, shunt back to the platform and get the people back in and depart!“
I was like are you kidding me 🤬 So I moved my train back to the platform and let all the people that I just told to leave board again, holy moly… But I made an announcement as I departed explaining what happened and that it wasn’t my decision x.x Still apologized in the name of my company though.
Then I did my best to get back on time at some point and eventually made it. But being out of my slot all the time and getting freight trains in front of me and the border controls didn’t make it easy for me, but I managed to get back on time 👌🏻
And in Strasbourg I arrived on platform 3 for a change, that’s the third time since I drive to Strasbourg that I actually arrive somewhere else than track 25 xD It’s quite rare for us haha.
Not getting boring here…
Doing a chill German service today, the Horn(y)berg Shuttle ~ Though my first train from Offenburg to Hornberg had a delay of 20 minutes due to infrastructure problems in Offenburg… But now back on time and after this service I got a free weekend :3
I‘m driving Offenburg - Strasbourg again, but phew, today it’s chaotic…
When I arrived to my service there was currently a disruption going on in Appenweier, there was no train traffic going on between Offenburg and Strasbourg at that moment due to a junction fault. But as my service started they just fixed it and opened the route again. However, the last train that left from Offenburg to Strasbourg was at 13:35, then there was no train from Offenburg to Strasbourg until 16:05… I was the 16:05, so all people that gathered in that time of no train traffic of course wanted in my train, which still runs with two tiny diesel units only. When I arrived at my train, I couldn’t even board. I had to ask people to step out and let me in, otherwise the train wouldn’t go anywhere 🤷🏻♂️ But people stepped out without making any trouble and I was able to get inside. I then left behind:
- About 20 people in Offenburg
- About 80 people and 6 cyclists in Appenweier
- 6 people and 2 cyclists in Legelshurst
- 4 people and 3 cyclists in Kork
Of course made delay because I could barely close the doors and had to wait long at the platforms for people trying to get inside and out… And before Appenweier they put a freight train in front of me, though if I see how long I was standing there that was probably a good idea.
And now someone did vomit into one of the units, right in front of a passenger door, plenty of people already stepped in, they were happy of course xD
Crazy day…
