Remembering all of those impacted by the horrific massacre of October 7th and all that has happened as a result. Standing today and every day with the Jewish community against the scourge of antisemitism.

Yay! My favorite season is upon us.
🚨 We’re calling it: Summer is over in DC. After 50 days of 90+ heat and one of our 10 hottest summers on record, the pattern has finally flipped. 70s today. 60s Tuesday and Wednesday. And no sustained heat in sight. Welcome, fall. 🍂 Link: capitalweather.com/we-declar…

Unbelievably honored to spend my morning remembering those whose lives were lost with those who bravely serve every single day.
We gathered this morning to recognize the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks on our nation. No one knew in those moments who the targets were, but we knew it was our freedom and our democracy under attack. Twenty five years later, we still remember the lives of all those Washingtonians we lost, including six members of our DCPS community—3 students and 3 educators. We still and will always remember, reflect, and pray for the nearly 3,000 lives lost.

Today marks 25 years since the deadliest terrorist attack in our nation’s history. ‌ 9/11 is a day that here in Washington, across our nation, and around our world will never be forgotten. ‌ We honor those whose lives were taken, and hold the survivors and families whose lives were forever changed in our hearts. ‌ My full proclamation:

Worth reading every word. It's easy to allow time to fade the horror of that day. These were 2,977 real, precious people. We can never forget them, their lives, or the terror motivated by Islamic extremism that led to their murders. #neverforget
Sharing a gift link to the New York Times' devastating minute by minute report of the World Trade Center's last 102 minutes, based on the hundreds of last calls and emails people made. Never forget. nytimes.com/2002/05/26/nyreg…

Feeling especially struck by the memories of 9/11 this year. I will never forget that day. We can never forget the vigilance necessary to fight against terrorism. And we must NEVER forget the thousands of people whose lives were brutally taken that day- each precious and beloved.
Welles Crowther is a hero. A @BCEagles graduate. A son, a brother & friend. At 24, he saved over a dozen lives on 9/11. And he’s known as the “Man in the Red Bandana”. This story is a must watch every year. May Welles’ memory continue to be a blessing.

Behind every big event in our nation's capital are the DC Government teams that help make it happen. From managing traffic and public safety to coordinating with the federal government to deliver a great event, we're proud to thank our DC Gov employees for all they do.

After a tough travel day yesterday with a cancelled flight and no available flights today, thank-you, @Amtrak, for a smooth, easy trip from Boston to DC! Very grateful to have made it back!

Canada, this ain’t it. And it is very legitimate for those who have had to experience the sharp increase in wildfire smoke air quality degradation to be concerned about it.

Our Congress has lost the plot. It seems they don't have any actual practical solutions for the issues that are most pressing to Americans- being able to live decent lives and care for their families so they endlessly debate issues which are more political than practical.

I moved to DC 25 years ago (which is so hard to believe). I still marvel that I get to live and work here. What a blessing. I truly love this city.

"America. America. God shed His grace on thee. And crowned thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea." Believe so deeply that we, the people of the United States, can form a more perfect union with liberty and justice for all. Happy 250th, America!

Very stirred on this 4th. I'm profoundly grateful to be American. I have a deepening sense of why my father immigrated here- because it is a place of possibility unlike any other. I feel a deep sense of responsibility to work hard to preserve and advance the best of our ideals.

In 1796, in his Farewell Address, George Washington warned the nation to “guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism.” Patriotism isn’t measured by who we blame or who we hate. It’s measured by our ability to unite around our shared goals and work together to do hard things.
