Before audiobooks, there were "Talking Books"! In the 1970s, LBPL provided these vinyl talking books to patrons with visual impairments, through a partnership with the Braille Institute. #TBT

ALT Library clerk (later Librarian) Christine Burcham sits in front of a record player, removing a 33-1/3 vinyl record from its sleeve. A special shipping container for library materials is on the table in the foreground. On the wall in the background is a hand-lettered sign reading: "Services for the Handicapped," as well as a variety of small memos taped on the wall nearby. A rotary-dial telephone sits on the table next to the record player.
