#OctoberWorldbuilders 25 This depends on the church. While the Windbringers & Harmonists are peaceful, some are much more authoritarian. Harmonism, for example, is a bit of a mix of Buddhism & Wicca in that practice is primarily eclectic w/ members choosing a specific patron.
#OctoberWorldbuilders! What sort of aesthetics/vibes do you associate with faith/religions in your setting? What do churches, priests, or rituals look like? What sounds, sights, smells, feelings, etc. are associated with them? Were you inspired by any real faiths?

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 25 Costumes are actually a relevant plot point in at least one of my WIPs. In Bonds of Honor, Balan finally figures out a way to pull his weight for the group by using his fashion & makeup knowledge to disguise the crew while being tracked by assassins.

#OctoberWorldbuilders 24 Brumewalker Archives definitely has a grimdark aesthetic, with a dystopian setting & lots of dark, spooky vibes. On the other hand, Tail-Wing Trackers is very warm & cozy with a small-town aesthetic & a large cast of quirky characters.
#OctoberWorldbuilders, good morning! This one is broad, and you can use your own words to describe it, not just what I've suggested: What is the overall vibe of your work? Where would it be on a dark-cozy scale? Or a fantasy-scifi scale? Or romance-nonromantic scale?

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 24 Today's snippet once again comes from Darkness Beyond the Wall, the prequel novella of BWA. Here, Lysander and the other mavericks arrive at the ruins of a former trading outpost in search of salvageable equipment they can use back in Kikika.

#OctoberWorldbuilders 23 Of all the towns I’ve developed so far, I’d probably want to visit Featherbrook the most. It’s a large city that surprisingly maintains the vibe & energy of a small coastal town. Fish markets, folkloric musicians on the streets, gentle sea breezes…
#OctoberWorldbuilders, good morning! What are the aesthetics of a town/city/location in your world? What's the architecture, food, culture, etc. like in that place? And would you visit it if you had a chance?

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 23 Time for a #writingq! Of all your characters, who do you think would be your BFF if they were real? For me, it’d likely be Veldandi. We share a love of corny jokes & would probably drive people nuts with our combined sass. 🤣

#OctoberWorldbuilders 22 I love having excuses to show off this artwork! This digital painting depicts Maple from FWC gazing out at her hometown of Shiverhill from afar, not long after her exile. This piece helps showcase the grand scale of Livoria & its aesthetical beauty.
#OctoberWorldbuilders, hello friends! This week could either be very easy or very hard 😆 The theme this week is "aesthetics and vibes" so I'm looking for vague, broad answers. Today: Share a mood board or artwork of something related to your story

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 22 BWA definitely has the spookiest settings in my current group of WIPs. The Brume-filled jungle gives vibes or darkness, mystery, and even a lingering aura of death that unsettles even the most stoic members of the protagonist cast.

#OctoberWorldbuilders 21 Nixtral's apothecaries, while similar to Earth doctors & pharmacists, some of their elixirs have magical properties. Magical Conjurers are also unknown to Earth, their elemental spells allowing them to conduct tasks we require technology to accomplish.
#OctoberWorldbuilders! And tell me about some of the weirder or setting-specific jobs in your world? Got any wizards who get paid for their magic work? What other peculiar things can a person get paid for in your setting that they might not be able to on today's Earth?

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 21 If given the chance to work with Spy x Family's Donovan Desmond, the Big Bad of FWC would probably be effective at stoking the fires of war. In fact, the BB would probably take whatever Desmond has planned & refine it into something 20x more vile...

#OctoberWorldbuilders 19 I have *several* protags who make a living in shady enterprises: Teos (FWC) - Smuggler Seda (TWT) - Black market merchant Gino (LBK) - Thief In GoL, Caston’s primary foe is Nalta, the crime lord in charge of Galstein’s largest criminal syndicate. 1/2
Good morning, #OctoberWorldbuilders! Hope everyone's having a good time and enjoying some time offline, too! Today's question is about the more sus jobs in your setting: Does anyone make a career out of illegal or underhanded activity? How does the law handle them?

Nalta earned the nickname ‘Death Howl’ due to his tendency to torture his victims. While law enforcement is aware of his actions and influence, they prove unable to capture him. 2/2

#OctoberWorldbuilders 18 Most Nixtralians are paid in local currency. All realms run off a gold standard, so the exchange rate between realms is negligible. Almost all realms have banks, though some are bigger than others. Labor camps are also in some more authoritarian nations.
#OctoberWorldbuilders Good day friends! This week we're talking about the work and jobs in our fictional worlds~ Today's question is less about specific occupations and more about the logistics of work. How are they paid? Do they have contracts? Does your world have forced labor?

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 18 One of the most horrific monsters in my works is Grimghast, a fierce ambush predator that serves as Kai’s foil & final opponent in The Faumen War Chronicles.

#OctoberWorldbuilders 17 Most Nixtralian realms form emergency services following the Faumen War. The war itself acts as a societal catalyst, pushing realms to progress at a rapid pace. Services such as firefighters, apothecaries, & ambulatory care are among the first to rise.
Good morning, #OctoberWorldbuilders! This week is about work and jobs in our fictional settings. What jobs do people have related to emergency services? Are there nurses and doctors? Firefighters? Anything specific to the dangers of your setting?

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 17 Today's snippet comes from Darkness Beyond the Wall once again. In my most recent writing session, one of Lysander's maverick comrades finds himself being attacked by Dusklings while resting in what the protags assumed was a safe refuge.

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 16 This seems like an accurate depiction of the chaos constantly going through Lysander’s brain during BWA:

#OctoberWorldbuilders 15 Nixtral remains a heavily agricultural world, even in the more modern eras when technology becomes more prominent. Farmers & ranchers remain the most common professions, though only a few are substantially wealthy due to the size of their landholdings.
Good morning, #OctoberWorldbuilders! This week is dedicated to the work and jobs done by people in your fictional world. Today's Q: What are some common jobs done by people in your setting? For instance, is it medieval with lots of farmers? A spaceship with engineers?

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 15 There's actually a few tricks in The Lowborn King. In fact, most of the story involves Gino outsmarting the Senate through some rather clever tricks from him and his new partner-in-crime Lunwar. And a fair amount of stupidity from the Senate...

#FantasyIndiesSpooktober 14 If mythical creatures are included in this, definitely harpies! I also have a soft spot for selkies, as seals are my favorite marine animal.
