Night also introduces animation into this visual language.
For an artist whose practice has evolved through painting, digital experimentation, and generative systems, this represents another way to investigate composition. The artwork can be experienced not only through the arrangement of individual marks, but through their relationship to time.
It brings together Efdot’s physical and digital practices within a single artistic exploration.

Compare Night with its digital counterpart, Flowing Through Paris (Day). The underlying visual language remains recognizable, but the change in palette transforms the experience.
Against the lighter background of Day, the marks read as drawing and gesture. In Night, those same relationships evoke illumination, density, and the atmosphere of a city after sunset.

Running through the composition is the Seine, represented by broad, winding forms in dark blue. The river provides a geographical anchor, allowing the surrounding abstraction to remain connected to the physical structure of Paris.
It is an important artistic decision: Efdot preserves enough of the city’s geography to give viewers a sense of place without relying on literal representation.

Look closely at the composition. Hundreds of individual marks in orange, yellow, blue, and white emerge against a deep navy background. Some suggest illuminated windows.
