A goal doesn’t become a bad goal just because you fall short. You don’t restart; you recalibrate. 🎯

Small, incremental, flexible goals are often the best path to your BIG goal and the greatness on the horizon. πŸŒ… Why? 🚫 It beats all-or-nothing thinking. ✨ It creates inspiration instead of anxiety. πŸ“ˆ It builds confidence through small wins and keeps you moving forward. Think less: β€œHow do I get there?” And more: β€œWhat’s the next step?”

My weekend at HYROX Boston was a great reminder that the joy is in the journey and that there is no effort without error and shortcoming. πŸ’–πŸ’ͺ

I'll give you one more sneak preview before I write up a full analysis, but this is what the trend looks like for boys vs. girls basketball participation in Massachusetts over the last 22 years (MIAA schools only). Quite a clear difference
Massachusetts was down to 7,775 high school girls basketball players last year, per the newest NFHS survey. That's barely more than the 7,609 players tallied in 1975-76. In 2010 the state was at 10,202 - and has decreased year-over-year in 11 of the last 13 recorded seasons*

Confidence requires evidence.. DATA! It’s unfair to expect to feel β€œconfident” in new or stretch setting. The answer? Pick a different value or mindset quality that is within your control and facilitates performance. This is highly personal. And the truth remains that greatness rarely comes from feeling comfortable or certain. πŸ’ͺπŸ’«

Performance Tip: Before asking β€œwhat’s next?” ask β€œwhat do I need?” High achievers are often wired to push through discomfort. Sometimes that’s needed. But sometimes it comes at the expense of performance. The skill is developing the self-awareness to know the difference.

If July asked you to perform. August will ask you to recover. Recovery isn’t the absence of work. It’s where growth catches up. Rest with intention. πŸ’«

My heart is broken. I can't believe this. Without question, Danny Ventura was the greatest journalists in Boston sports history. He poured everything he had into covering high school sports and did it at the highest level for decades. Danny, thank you for everything. There aren't enough words to express how much you'll be missed. You meant so much to so many people. You gave us countless memories, told the stories that mattered, and inspired generations of young journalists to follow in your footsteps. Look after us, my friend.
With an extremely heavy heart, I pass along that Donato "Danny V" Ventura passed away last night after a 7 month battle with cancer. He was a great journalist (best in Boston School Sports history), a fantastic guy, the best husband and a great friend to so many of us. So sadπŸ™
