Fifty-one students. 🚔☀️One unforgettable summer ahead!
This week, we proudly welcomed our 2026 Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI) team to the London Police Service as they begin their summer internship journey with us. Over the past few days, we’ve enjoyed getting to know each of them, and we’re excited to have them as part of our team this summer.
Throughout the coming weeks, our YIPI students will be out in the community, participating in a variety of educational, cultural, and hands-on work experiences while building valuable skills and meaningful connections.
If you see them around London this summer, be sure to say hello! 👋 We look forward to learning from one another and making this a memorable experience for everyone involved.
YIPI is funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services and is designed to strengthen relationships between police and the neighbourhoods we proudly serve.

The London Police Service Board extends its deepest condolences to the loved ones and colleagues of Cst. Tarun Bali and Cst. Marc Pinizzotto. One death of a police officer is too many. Two fallen officers in Ontario in such a short period of time is a devastating reminder of what members risk in upholding their duty to protect the peace of our communities and prevent harm to others.
We honour the sacrifices of Cst. Bali, Cst. Pinizzotto, and those who came before them, not only through remembrance but by reaffirming our responsibility as a police board to prioritize the safety and well-being of those who serve on our behalf. The loss of these officers will be carried by those whose lives they have directly impacted, the communities they served, and the police services that they so proudly represented; our thoughts are with you all. @lpsmediaoffice
On Sunday, at the Ontario Police Suicide Memorial Ceremony at Queen’s Park, our Board Chair Ryan Gauss, Chief Truong, and members of the London Police Service joined police services from across the province to honour members who were lost to suicide.
Their contributions to public safety and their lasting impact will not be forgotten, and we thank them for their service.
The Board acknowledges the grief carried by their loved ones, colleagues, and communities. Policing calls for continued awareness, care, and connection. We are committed to prioritizing member mental health and well-being as an essential part of a positive workplace culture. @RyanMGauss @LPSChiefTruong @lpsmediaoffice
