Day 7, Non-Fiction: 'How to Chat Chicken' by @LSmonster illustr. by Adrienne Barman @whatonearthbook
How do we know what animals are saying? This fascinating book is based on scientific recordings of animal sounds and the observation of behaviours. #SparkLonglist

Creature from the Black Lagoon. released in 1954, What few knew until recently however, is that the credit for the Creature’s iconic design was cruelly stolen from one of the industry’s earlier female animators, Millicent Patrick.

Rest in peace to astonishing author, activist, and cherished member of the Grateful Dead family, Steve Silberman.
“When I started working for the Grateful Dead in 1999, Steve Silberman was around a lot, working on the So Many Roads boxed set throughout the summer. He was so kind, warm, and welcoming to me every time we saw each other. He was genuinely respectful. One of the brightest lights I’ve met over the past 25 years. His intelligence and generosity were unmatched. Steve, you will be missed by so many. Everyone who met you or corresponded with you loves you.” - David Lemieux

Just landed in Istanbul to a wave of relief seeing the result in France. First the UK rejects the right and now France does the same, albeit in very different circumstances. Progressive forces are there, provided people are given good reasons to vote for them.

You know I love the @BBC & celebrate all the things we pay our licence fee for . But yesterday whilst 100K peaceful people marched to demonstrate their love for life all I could find on @BBCNews was a selfie of the gas-guzzling @taylorswift13 . Im sorry but thats a disgrace #RestoreNatureNow

ALT A photo of the new Birds: Brilliant and Bizarre exhibit. In the centre of the picture is an albatross with its wings outstretched and a very fluffy white albatross chick underneath it. Other birds, such as bustards, a hornbill and a hoopoe can be seen in the background, as well as sustainable wooden displays, lighting and large audio-visual displays.
