Doesn’t seem like it was a very wise idea to let Paramount use relocation extortion to get their way.

Our plutocrats have already grown accustomed to threatening their way out of being regulated.
Elon Musk threatens Democrats who want to investigate alleged corruption and his role in the US government if they win control of Congress next month. "Those who pick fights with me should understand that I will find out who is really pulling the strings and come for them” tinyurl.com/yjfn3u3k

His ball knowledge is vastly superior to Trump’s.
Vic Mensa: Who do you rock with more, Khabib, Islam or Belal (MMA) Abdul El-Sayed: Khabib was the OG, man, what he did to Conor. Conor's a terrible human being. Vic: Islam's on a crazy run right now and his name is Islam. In a very racist sport to have literal Islam choking out racist guys. I got beat by Islam. Islam subdued me.

AIPAC knows it’s so radioactive with U.S. voters that they have to resort to this withdrawal so as not to tank the campaigns that actually want to support. This is progress.
SCOOP: AIPAC will no longer endorse congressional candidates or earmark donations to congressional campaigns. The group's super PAC, United Democracy Project, will continue to operate and it will urge members to donate directly to pro-Israel candidates. jewishinsider.com/2026/10/ai…

In their new book about the Israel lobby, Eli Clifton and Ian Lustick note the lobby has radically shifted away from even a pretense of defending Israel on the merits (which they once did) in favor of attacking critics, changing debate topics and exaggerating threats. They don't want to discuss whether Israel is an ally because they can't win it, so dialing this up to 11 is really the only play left.
I believe Abdul El-Sayed is Muslim Brotherhood. If he were to win, Chuck Schumer could place him on the Senate Intelligence Committee. He would have access to the very highest level of classified materials. There would be an unacceptably high risk that the lives of American servicemen and women would be endangered, because there’s every reason to believe El-Sayed would share that classified information with Muslim Brotherhood terrorists.

Immigration scholarship needs a better way to break through to the masses and this debate specifically. There was unanimity among them that mass deportations and declines in legal immigration at present scale would be economically ruinous and positively no one listened.
Springfield, Ohio, leads the state in year-over-year job losses. When thousands of Haitian residents lost their protection from deportation, dozens were arrested, scores lost their jobs and others either left the country or decided to hunker down at home. wapo.st/4seVlMx

"And that is why these cases matter. This is about whether the judiciary can constrain this president for the next two years, or whether he will be permitted to simply bulldoze the rule of law en route to bulldozing a public park and turning it into a walled garden for his own amusement."
"So who gives a shit about a golf course? Trump does — enough to lie to a federal judge about it, then call her insane when she noticed. The rest of us should care at least that much." publicnotice.co/p/trump-east…

You’re gutter slime, @VivekGRamaswamy.
Ramaswamy doubles down. “We don’t know what happened between Amy and her mother, who first spoke out about Amy in 2020, but we know that Amy Acton is a serial fabulist who has some serious problems with the truth,” Connie Luck, his spox, said. nytimes.com/2026/10/20/us/po…

Seems like a very bad idea to allow a single plutocrat to be able to wield this level of destructive power.
Incredible scoop by my @WSJ colleagues: Elon Musk ordered the slowdown of a military-grade version of Starlink relied on by Ukraine, a decision that sparked panic in Kyiv and confusion inside the Trump administration. wsj.com/world/ukraine-starli…

Our collective unwillingness to confront what Jan 6 was beyond the siege of the capitol itself - Trump matter of factly tried to use a fake elector scheme and pressure state officials to try to steal a presidential election - has very possibly brought us to the brink.
A small group of U.S. national security officials has been discreetly advising state and congressional lawmakers on how to prepare for the possibility that the Trump administration will attempt to interfere in the midterms, according to people involved. wapo.st/3WjVke5

This is why the Israel lobby and its activists are terrified of Abdul El Sayed and why they are resorting to desperate, racist, Islamophobic smears to stop him: he wants to foster a long overdue - and inevitable - reckoning with our relationship to Israel.
Reminder that it was never really about Netanyahu—the anti-Israel push won’t end even if he’s voted out. This is Abdul El-Sayed promising to rail against the Jewish state no matter what.

A new report on truancy in D.C. says that some Latino students are truant because the increased presence of ICE, other federal agents, and National Guard had "negative impact on their families." One kid said he was "genuinely afraid to step outside" after his dad was deported.

I've been in D.C. for 25 years and have never once heard a resident or visitor refer to East Potomac Park as "Trash Island." I don't know that it even has a trash problem! That being said, this is where the East Wing was dumped after it was demolished...

There’s a bill in Congress right now, the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026, that would make it almost impossible to stop what’s happening at East Potomac. It would let federal agencies unilaterally decide historic preservation doesn’t matter, narrow what even counts as “harm” to a historic place, and strip courts of the power to meaningfully review agency decisions. This is the exact playbook NPS has already used at East Potomac. Rushed paperwork. A 7 year old report used as cover. A claim of “no adverse effect” that doesn’t survive basic scrutiny. If this bill passes, the legal fight that’s currently working, the one that got a judge to stop the bulldozers, becomes a lot harder to win, for this park and every historic place in the country. East Potomac isn’t an isolated story. It’s a preview. Call your senators. Tell them to oppose the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026 as written.
