Today, I officially confirmed my resignation as Head of Communications @ug_lawsociety at ULS House. I leave with an #ExcellentPerformanceAward presented to me by the top management of the Secretariat, under the leadership of the CEO, Ms. @AdetiChristine. This adds to the Torchbearer Award from the President, which so far no one has since ULS inception in 1956. Destiny is directing my loyal and competent service elsewhere, where strategy must meet competence, respect, humanity, transparency, harmony, virtue, valour and value and I must obey. Duty is calling; indeed, it has already called. Soon, we shall return to tell you where. To those who say, “I pity you,” — I do not need your pity. Instead, save it for yourselves . I leave with my head held high, grateful for the journey and ready for the next assignment. Thank you, muzadde wa bangi @KKariisa, for picking me from the staffroom and laying a great foundation that helped me realise I was capable of much more than I had imagined. Thank you, Past President @BmalinguOundo, SC, and your united Council, for recognising my potential and entrusting me with the responsibility of amplifying the voice and visibility of the Bar. Thank you, the #RadicalNewBar, for everything I have learnt from you and for the opportunity to contribute, including standing firm when the organisation faced an organised coup that some potbellied you are currently later became blind about. Thank you the media; my biggest mentors and colleagues. To the ULS, my simple message for you; when the time comes, don't be like the restored bourbons. Thank you to everyone who believed in me, encouraged me, challenged me and patted me on the shoulder when I needed to hear, “You can make it.” I now leave drunk with skills — carrying with me the lessons, experiences and memories of a remarkable institution. Some were straight forward, they told me "Fuck you"; others were pretenders, they teethed to me bending their heads to their phones, others tried to blackmail but read citations in my honour. All those were trivials that my mentor Shakespeare taught me in his tragedies, comedies and sonnets. I leave as a continuous storyteller and storywriter, digital communications enthusiast, email communications expert, crisis communications practitioner, quality controller and quality assurer, skills sharpened by the demands of the job and the people I had the privilege to work with.
