I'm devastated the #UNC community lost a faculty member in an act of violence on campus. Carolina will move into Condition 2 - classes will be canceled tomorrow and all non-mandatory operations are suspended. Tar Heels, know that support is available. unc.live/3QWRaEe

This is why microscopy needs to be formally taught as a required course. None of this is trivial & all of it matters even if you’re “just” looking at microscopy images in the papers. Bad habits & misconceptions run rampant when we just rely on peer-based equipment “training.”

We made 2 'templates' to make the intention of authors very clear to journal eds: 1) a revision plan template (reviewcommons.org/templates/…) 2) a full revision template i.e. classical point by point (reviewcommons.org/templates/…).

1/ Peer review is in trouble! So much of the knowledge we produce & share rests on the idea that our work goes through a rigorous review by experts. After serving as an editor-in-chief for 5 yrs. & an associate editor for 3 yrs., I'm worried that our system is in trouble:

Side note: @fluoroforce made an inverted LUT that @christlet would be proud of. We call it iMQLUT
We struggled to see super dense myosin structures and dim small filaments with monochromatic iLUTs, so Melissa stacked an adapted Kindlmann LUT on an inverted grey LUT. The result:

Hi #mechanobiology #mechanotransduction folks! Outside 3D cell migration, what are your favorite examples of cellular processes at the cell-tissue interface that mechanoresponse is in place? E.g., radial intercalation, cell reintegration into tissue.
