United might be the best retention business on Earth.
The product's been shit for years and fans still don't cancel.

It’s all about managing your energy.
I'm sharp in the morning, so that's when I write.
After lunch I'm fucking useless, so I go to the gym, do admin, emails, etc.
Best thing about working for yourself is that you can build your day around how you feel.

A supplement client asked how I’d improve retention.
The biggest problem is people forget to take it.
It gets boring.
The unopened packs start stacking up.
Then they cancel their subscription.
So I suggested sending every subscriber a 100-day habit calendar.
Tick off each day.
Show roughly when different benefits should start appearing.
Give them something to work towards.
Make progress visible.
Gamify the habit.
The founder just sent me this picture of the habit calendar – let's see how it goes.

Print book sales are up 25% in a decade.
Indie bookshops are up 70% since 2020.
Funny what happens when everything becomes instant.
The “worse” version starts feeling better.
Slower. Heavier. Less convenient.
And people pay MORE for it.
We spent 20 years removing friction from life.
Now friction itself is becoming a luxury.
