The objective is to prevent God from speaking existence into being. A folk speaks itself into a nation through myth. Delete the concept of a national mythology and abort forever any attempt for a people to organize a revolution. Remove a man from his ancestral mythology and he will lose all capacity to incarnate the ideal form of his people. Greatness itself becomes an impossibility, lost forever in the chaos of the modern age. Julius Evola writes: “the chiefs, as eminent encamations of the ‘type’ of the race, present themselves as ‘ideals in action’ and, as such, reactivate a deep latent force in the individuals” Great men command a nation’s mythology through deed. Their embodied heroism creates the premise for a full-scale revolt within the collective consciousness of their folk. It is only when a hero perfectly embodies the collective dreams of a sleeping people that they may become “reactivated” into a state of vitalistic wakefulness. The newly awakened ones thirst for life. Nietzsche clarifies: “And whoever calleth out: ‘Lo, here is a well for many thirsty ones, one heart for many longing ones, one will for many instruments’: around him collecteth a people, that is to say, many attempting ones.” The national myth represents an eternal well-spring of life. Joseph Campbell writes that “The well is the World Navel, its flaming water the indestructible essence of existence”. The “navel” of our myth is the frontier — the primordial realm in which the European can cleanse himself from the impurity of the anti civilization and engender new transformation into the ideal American type. The heroic American who seeks the salvation of his folk must thrust himself back into the wilds and embark upon the same ritual rites of passage as his ancestors in a grand quest to find the eternal wellspring. He must drink from the source, embody its magic, and then carry its waters home to revitalize his people. “The boon that he brings restores the world (elixir). Campbell continues: “the adventurer still must return with his life-transmuting trophy” which must be brought “back into the kingdom of humanity, where the boon may redound to the renewing of the community, the nation, the planet, or the ten thousand worlds.” The hero who forges greatness on the frontier molds himself into the vessel for the elixir. He returns as Evola’s “ideal in action”. His illustrious splendor proves that the ancestral identity yet thrives within the heart of man. Around this solar being gather Nietzsche's “many thirsty ones.” The national myth is thereby spoken into existence once more.
