The economic policies that Susan Collins voted for have been a net negative for the State of Maine. The system has been broken for as long as I can remember, which is why we even think of things in terms of “Gee, we had better keep re-electing the same out-of-touch fossils forever or we won’t get the scraps that they send our way after the billionaires and corporations that fund them get their fill!” If we do things right, and by “we” I mean the people who showed up to vote these people into office, we won’t be fighting for scraps anymore. What if we could change the system so that our representatives work for WE THE PEOPLE again instead of the .01% and the corporations that are “fucking us in the ass without Vaseline”? (to quote the esteemed junior congressman-elect of Maine’s Second District.) What if the corporations or “low-wage dead end job creators” paid their fair share of taxes again so that the bottom 95% don’t have to keep shouldering this burden? What if these “job creators” were forced to pay a living wage or pay higher taxes to offset the subsidies that they currently get from taxpayers to help support their workforce. How is that the poor worker’s fault? We should be fucking furious with their employers! What if their corporate windfalls were taxed at higher rates, especially when they’ve contributed to inflation? What if they are made to pay property taxes to the towns they set up shop in at a minimum rate that way there won’t be any more negotiations with the town officials that are unfair? What if we *gestures at the entire “war” budget* !!!!!! That’s fucked! We cut benefits for our fucking PEOPLE WHO FUCKING SERVED while giving money to Israel to fund a genocide?! What in the actual FUCK?! Jesus Christ!!! The globe could be uniting to solve these problems and make life better for EVERYONE! I’m not suggesting a “one world government” but a “new world order” where we cooperate and act in good faith? Corruption has taken over the United States Federal government. John McCain saw it. I have never felt so hopeful about our country than I do right now. I told my better half a few weeks ago that we have a chance and we CAN take our country back from the UNIPARTY if the people get the hell out and vote. Well, we did. We could get constitutional amendments in the next 5 years if we stay focused and united. It isn’t Left vs. Right, my friends. It’s up vs. down. We can do it together.

Oh my God, this was absolutely delicious. The “fuck your feelings” leader of the “proud boys” sure seems to like his logical fallacies and gets deep in his feelings when he fails to derail the debate with his tone policing bullshit. What a fucking crybaby. 😭

Sharing the mental load is the ONLY thing that separates being her partner from being one more person she has to manage. A woman can hand a list to ANYONE. She can tell anyone what time pickup is, show anyone where the lunch boxes are, and leave detailed instructions for people she has absolutely no desire to raise a family with. But he is the man she chose to have CHILDREN with. For a mother, being able to hear “I’ve got it” and actually go back to sleep is a pretty fucking primal expression of trust. It’s how she feels seen, loved, and supported within that relationship. She has a husband, a family, a beautiful life together. And somehow, if she doesn’t read the school email, her husband is going to be sitting in the pickup line on a day the school is CLOSED. Consider what choosing to have children together actually means. She chose ONE man to raise these children with. ONE MAN. Once they both agree to become parents, he WILLINGLY takes on his share of the noticing, the planning, the remembering, and the following through. She is entitled to count on him to do all of that without first having to write him a fucking list. She chose HIM over ALL the other men she could have started a family with. He should take enormous fucking pride in being the father she can count on. Reading the school email. Signing the permission slip. Putting the field trip on his own damn calendar. Packing the sack lunch enthusiastically. Getting on his knees to check whether last year’s snow boots still fit, then ordering the next size up BEFORE the first storm because he genuinely LOVES being the father who thinks of that shit, too. She doesn’t need another person asking her what’s for dinner. She has an entire table full of people she can hear that from. She chose HIM as the father of her children. He should make her feel like the luckiest fucking woman alive.

How it feels the day after the GOP gets their asses handed to them and I don’t have to hide my joy because I don’t live with a man who feels entitled to control my thoughts and opinions anymore.

This morning, my 9 year old daughter said “Good morning! How are you?” I said “Good morning! I’m fabulous, how are you?” She said “Great, but why are you fabulous this morning?” I told her that it was a wonderful election night. She asked who won the election, and I told her that there were a lot of elections last night and it would be too many to list, but a concise answer is that human decency won and hate lost. Democracy won and fascism lost. It is a very good day and I actually have some hope for her future.
