Check Yahoo’s scoreboard. Now, seeing it again, I was like, ‘Huh? That’s weird…’ by @To_Zaemon Please support the original artist's work! #Umamusume #UmaTranslations #ウマ娘 #ウマ娘譲 #ChevalGrand #シュヴァルグラン #Verxina #ヴィルシーナ #Vivlos #ヴィブロス ---- So these are references to Japanese baseball, so bear with me for a moment. Under NPB's Climax Series (CS) playoff format, winning the regular-season Central League pennant (リーグ優勝) does not automatically send a team to the Japan Series (日本シリーズ). The 1st-place team must still win the Climax Series Final Stage against the 2nd- or 3rd-place wildcard team. And being the daughters of famous baseball pitchers in the game (the irl are their owners), the three are fans of the Yokohama DeNA BayStars. So this actually references that moment in the Climax Series Final when Yokohama defeats Hanshin. The author frames it splendidly by having Cheval, the gentlest of the three, voice her disbelief, her agony at how DeNA clinched it (more like guilt, since Hanshin should have deserved to win as the champion), and her happiness in the last panel. It's incredible, really.
