The rise of these Chinese YouTube channels needs to be studied.

Great review video and stunning visuals. A must watch.
This part of Tim Pan's iPhone Duo review made me tear up. He noted that Steve Jobs talked about a flexible display back in 2010, and Apple filed its first foldable display patent just five days before he passed away. This device is 15 years in the making, spanning all three CEOs' tenures. Truly a remarkable moment for Apple.
Why do I not trust “made in USA” products? 😭

The Apple Music rebrand looks fantastic.
The animation was made using practical effects by playing music sound waves to displace water.
This is clearly inspired by Liquid Glass and I think it looks incredible.

Weird that Android foldables have had a 7-year head start for app optimisations, yet Apple doesn't even get a day to sort things out.
You will see thousands of apps getting better support the instant developers rebuild with iOS 27.1 SDK, and things will get even better once they rethink how their app should look. Remember, the vast majority of app devs don't even have an iPhone Duo in their hand, give them time.
It would have been nice if Apple automatically rescaled apps to work better on the Duo out of the box, much like what Android does. But I think this approach would backfire in the long term as it would incentivise devs to sit still.
My summary of iPhone Duo reviews so far:
- Battery life is great
- Cameras are solid for a foldable, but a step down from 18 Pro
- People love the nano-texture display
- App support is disappointing on day 1, but thinking about the iPhone X days this should be sorted in a few months (Android had a 7 year head start...)
- Ergonomics take some getting used to
- Software is well thought out
- Premium build with great hinge and minimal crease
- Phone may get hot sometimes, throttles performance more than 18 pro, but still more performant than 17 Pro
These people are either slow or simply engagement baiting on X.
Not all apps will be optimised for iPhone Duo on day one. It will take time for devs to rethink how their app should look on the first foldable iPhone.
We saw this same thing play out with the iPhone X in 2017. There were many apps that had black bars across the top and bottom at launch, but now you will struggle to find a single app that looks like this on modern iPhones.
The CEOs and project managers behind these apps use iPhones, and many of them will use an iPhone Duo. It will not take long for them to be updated. But until then, we will have to compromise.
Does anyone else have an issue with dictation on iPadOS 27 where saying “iPhone 18 Pro” transcribes as “iPhone 13 Pro”?
Nobody is entitled to getting the iPhone Duo on day one 😭
I'm not buying the iPhone Duo if I can't get it on Day 1
I'm not buying it for personal use. I'm buying it to review, test it, and compare it with Samsung and Xiaomi Fold. Getting the device on Day 1 is crucial because that's when the views make it worth the investment. Even then, we often struggle to recover the full cost of the device.
Spending $3,000 on a phone only to receive it a month later makes absolutely no business sense. By then, the hype is gone, the views are down, and the investment simply isn't worth it.
This is interesting...
My theory is that the display is more flexible around the crease area due to not having a rigid titanium backplate directly beneath it.
In any case, I will have a unit in my hands on the 23rd so I will let you all know how the display holds up.
BREAKING!A shocking new discovery about the iPhone Duo's foldable display!
According to Weibo user Kang, the screen around the iPhone Duo's crease is surprisingly SOFT to the touch. When pressed with a finger, the surface can even develop visible WRINKLES!
This is something we've never seen mentioned in previous reviews of foldable phones.
Even more interesting, Kang claims this behavior is common across multiple units.
Could this be related to Apple's rumored variable-thickness ultra-thin glass (UTG), with a thinner central folding region and thicker surrounding areas?
If so, Apple may have adopted a radically different approach to managing stress around the fold.
The engineering behind this display could be far more interesting than we initially thought.

Don’t be fooled by Microsoft’s marketing.
Even though they claim the Surface Laptop Ultra has a “mini-LED display”, it actually does not feature any local dimming. It also has slow response times that lead to ghosting.

This is fake.
But I do think a redesign is possible, especially since the base 18 isn’t expected to receive any major feature upgrades.
