We’ve created The Leeds Fund: Cost of Living to help bridge the gap.
It’s a collective fund, where we’ll pool together donations of all sizes and channel them towards one goal – making the effects of increased living costs more manageable for local people.leedscf.org.uk/the-leeds-fun…
Community organisations are already embedded in our communities, providing trusted support to people when they need it most. But demand for their services is growing and so are their own costs, leaving many struggling to keep up.
People are struggling to make ends meet. Nearly two thirds of people couldn’t afford at least one essential item in the first half of 2026. And in Leeds, more than 39,000 people who’re having to claim Universal Credit are in work.
You can read all about The Leeds Fund: Cost of Living, and how you can help people get the support they need when they need it most, on our website: leedscf.org.uk/the-leeds-fun….
It’s a collective fund, where we’ll pool together donations of all sizes and channel them towards one goal – making the effects of increased living costs more manageable for local people.
We’re committed to funding what communities really need, and we know right now that people are struggling to make ends meet.
That’s why we’re launching The Leeds Fund: Cost of Living.
We heard from Bunmi Owolabi, CEO of Afrikindness, and Chris Sylvester, Founder of Getting Clean CIC, who spoke about what funding from The Leeds Fund has meant to them and the people they work with.
And we looked ahead to what comes next.
Thanks to donors, partners and community organisations across the city, we’ve invested nearly £4.6 million and supported more than 23,300 people in our communities.
Over that time, we’ve invested in community-led organisations to help tackle some of the city’s most pressing challenges – from loneliness and mental health, to enterprise and employability, to organisational resilience during and after the pandemic.
Thank you to everyone who joined us today to celebrate 10 years of local giving through our flagship programme, The Leeds Fund!

We love to hear feedback like this! A microgrant is often the first stepping stone that helps a new organisation test, learn and develop what they do, and the impact can be significant.
We're proud to invest in new and small community organisations across Leeds 🩵
"The grant acted as a genuine catalyst, creating measurable impact for participants while helping us build the evidence and confidence needed to grow.”
"The grant process was clear, the team were approachable, and the investment allowed us to test a model that has since created further opportunities for participants and helped us secure £10,000 from another funder."
“As our first grant, the funding gave a new lived experience-led organisation the opportunity to demonstrate what it could achieve and provided credibility with partners and future funders."
