After Roma won Serie A in 2001, Francesco Totti walked into the dressing room expecting chaos.
Instead, Hidetoshi Nakata was apparently sitting in the corner reading a book while everyone celebrated.
Totti later described him as an “extraterrestrial”.
Nakata was always different. Five years later, after the 2006 World Cup, he retired from football at just 29. He’d grown tired of the pressure and celebrity that came with being a footballer.
One of the most unusual careers of his generation.

✍️ Delighted to welcome Tyler Young to The Dannies! 🦁
The 20-year-old midfielder developed in the top-tier academies of Arsenal FC and Queens Park Rangers, before signing senior terms with Peterborough United.
He then joined Ipswich Town, gaining valuable senior non-league experience on loan at Chatham Town and Potters Bar Town, before his recent stint with Walton & Hersham.
🔴 Welcome to the Stamford family Tyler! 🙌

Southport Football Club can confirm that Neil Danns has chosen to step aside from his position as First Team Manager.
Neil will continue to support the Club in the short term as we manage the transition and consider the next steps for the first team.
Neil has given an enormous amount to Southport and this Club has meant a great deal to him. Throughout his time as manager, he has represented Southport with dignity, care and a genuine desire to move the Club forward. He has built real relationships with the players, staff and supporters and has always wanted the very best for everyone connected with the Club.
We are incredibly grateful for everything Neil has given us and, on a personal level, for the way he has conducted himself throughout his time here. He leaves the managerial role with our genuine thanks, affection and respect and will always be very welcome at Southport Football Club.
Mark Duffy will take charge of the first team for Tuesday night’s fixture.
A further update regarding the managerial position will be provided in due course.

Can’t believe I’m saying this only 5 games into the brand new season, but does anybody need any goals? 📞⚽️
All the best to @WindsorEtonFC for the rest of the season, a good club with good people.
Any RT’s are always appreciated.
