🚨JUST IN: Labour Chancellor set to hike price of a pint in upcoming budget despite struggling pubs.
• Chancellor John Healey is expected to raise alcohol duty in Wednesday’s Budget, adding an extra 2p to the price of a pint.
• Under the plan, duty on every pint would rise in line with 3.9 per cent RPI inflation, taking the tax from 50p to 52p.
• A bottle of wine is expected to rise by between 10p and 12p depending on its strength, while a bottle of 37.5 per cent gin would go up by 35p.
• The Wine and Spirit Trade Association said the government should be supporting the drinks sector rather than squeezing it further during a cost of living crisis.
• The group warned that repeated alcohol tax increases have consistently failed to raise revenue.

Reminder: Pubs already only make an average of 12p per £5 pint. This will kill off the industry for good.
