Reading is reading. It all counts.
Okay, so, listen, I'm not that into audiobooks. I'll occasionally partake, but I prefer looking at text, highlighting stuff, marking it up, etc., and I can't do that with an audiobook. But I'll be damned if I'm gonna tolerate someone claiming that listening to an audiobook means you didn't "actually read it." As though it doesn't count. People have all sorts of good reasons for preferring audiobooks, and I'm so damn glad that option exists for those who need it. Let folks engage with written works in a way that's accessible and meaningful for them, and don't diminish that. It's none of your business. Move along.

This is so important. When I talk about dismantling vocational awe in our lives/workplace and I say “put yourself first” I don’t mean doing stuff like Liz says here. Taking care of yourself at the expense of others is never a good look. And I will never advocate for that.
People say, "I can't take care of other people unless I take care of myself first." And they'll use that sentence to justify vacationing in Hawai'i, or dining indoors during an airborne plague.

Lol. Sometimes even I underestimate how much and how often vocational awe rhetoric is forced onto people. Passion is the metric for success? Not experience or trust or preparation or any other logical variable? Sure, Jan.
Two teachers can teach the exact same lesson and get completely different results. The variable? The teachers’ passion and creativity. The power is not in the program. The power is in the magic the teacher brings. #multiplyexcellence

I applied for a job with 79 bullet points. I had exp. with all but one, but that's the one they wanted proficiency in. Most job hunt content is for the job hunter. It's nice to see something that reflects the employers and how inane their side of it is. newyorker.com/humor/daily-sh…
