We had a fantastic day with Katya Balen earlier this month. Year 7 are all reading October October in their library lessons and loved hearing about Katya’s inspiration behind the book. Some excellent work in the writing workshops too!
SUPER excited to be welcoming Katya Balen into school on Friday 10th October. As well as a talk with Y7, writing workshops with Y7 and 8, Katya will be signing books in the library over lunchtime. You can buy books on the day or order them in advance on the online shop.
Very excited, not only at how organised I am this year (so far!), but at this excellent line up of visits for @DidcotGirls and @StBirinusSchool! @lcpalmerpoet @sophiemckenzie_ @footieheroesbks @BooksandChokers
The selection for Year 10 is pretty good, though I do say so myself! @AliceOseman @amiescool @asgoodasdeadd @EveAinsworth

Last book delivery of the year! Lots of romance here, as well as some large print copies of our Year 9 Reading Aloud titles to support a student with a visual impairment. @malorieblackman @AnthonyHorowitz @johngreen @Sally_Nicholls @ManonSteffanRos

The DGS Reading Ambassadors had a great day out at @CarnegieMedals ceremony at the Cambridge Theatre in London last week! Thanks to @JustineLaismith for accompanying us!
Happy retirement day to this copy of 'Skeleton Key' after 23 years of service! It's been replaced by a newer model, which will hopefully continue the legacy for many more years!

It's #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, which means I get to shout even louder about how reading anything and everything benefits mental health. We've also got specific books about dealing with your mental health in the library if that's what you need.
